TF1 launches sports channel into Italian DTT

Eurosport-owner TF1 has confirmed the launch of its new Italian sports channel, Sportitalia, on February 6. The new digital channel is a joint venture with Holland Coordinator and Services BV from which TF1 bought a 49% share in Europa TV ahead of the launch. TF1 has bought another 49% in Prima TV from the Dutch company. Prima is the transmission company responsible for the D-Free multiplex which in addition to Sportitalia will carry Mediaset’s Italia 1 and Canale 5 and TF1’s French domestic news channel LCI.
