Pace in licensing deal with OpenTV

Pace Micro Technology has signed a five-year licensing and porting agreement with OpenTV.

Under the agreement Pace can offer OpenTV's middleware products on its wide range of digital set-top boxes, including personal video recorders.

The new deal enables Pace to add OpenTV Core 1.1 middleware to the range of OpenTV products Pace has incorporated into its set-top boxes and builds on the relationship between Pace and OpenTV, which has already resulted in nearly four million set-top boxes shipped to operator customers worldwide.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

Will this have any effect on the UK scene?

Is the Open technology used, or usable, for the FTV Beeb satellite channels or maybe even the terrestrial channels?
