Satellite chiefs climb rich list

EchoStar's Charles Ergen and News Corp's Rupert Murdoch are both well up the Forbes' recent list of top 100 billionaires.

Ergen, chairman and CEO at EchoStar, ranked No. 34 with a fortune estimated by Forbes to be about $9.1 billion. Murdoch, whose company took a controlling stake in DirecTV and Hughes in December, was ranked No. 43 with an estimated fortune of $7.8 billion.

Of course, both trail a long way behind Bill Gates at number one the richest, with a fortune of $46.6 billion. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen was in at five with $21 billion. Meanwhile Sumner Redstone of Viacom was just nudged out by Murdoch to number 35 with just $8.9 billion.
