Satellite chiefs climb rich list | | EchoStar's Charles Ergen and News Corp's Rupert Murdoch are both well up the Forbes' recent list of top 100 billionaires.
Ergen, chairman and CEO at EchoStar, ranked No. 34 with a fortune estimated by Forbes to be about $9.1 billion. Murdoch, whose company took a controlling stake in DirecTV and Hughes in December, was ranked No. 43 with an estimated fortune of $7.8 billion.
Of course, both trail a long way behind Bill Gates at number one the richest, with a fortune of $46.6 billion. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen was in at five with $21 billion. Meanwhile Sumner Redstone of Viacom was just nudged out by Murdoch to number 35 with just $8.9 billion. |
