Blackburn Back at BBC

Tony Blackburn is coming home to BBC London 94.9 next week when he starts a new Monday evening Soul Show, beginning on March 8.

His new shows will combine his passion for music with the familiar conversational style and interactivity that millions of fans will recognise.

The show will revive memories of Blackburn's mid-morning Soul Show on BBC Radio London in the late Eighties.

From April 17, Blackburn will also present a second show on BBC London 94.9 when he launches his Saturday lunchtime programme, a mix of the soul music for which he has become renowned, as well as phone calls and guests.

Blackburn: "I'm delighted to be coming back to the fastest growing speech and music station in London.

"It's been a few years since I last had a show on BBC London radio and I'm thrilled to be returning to such a success story."

Managing Editor of BBC London 94.9FM, David Robey, said: "Tony is a household legend - and deservedly so.

"He has re-invented himself so successfully over 40 years at the top of the business.

"Our listeners will love his unmistakeable voice, his passion for soul music and his unique sense of humour.

Tony Blackburn first joined BBC Radio London in 1984 where he introduced the first ever soul programme in the UK.
