A group of UK MPs led by veteran Labour backbencher Gerald Kaufman is to scrutinise the role of the BBC and how it should be funded and governed in the run-up to charter renewal in 2006, according to a report in the Guardian newspape. The cross-party House of Commons culture, media and sport committee, chaired by Kaufman, will also investigate the wider issue of public service broadcasting in the multichannel era. | ||
