Hi friend star channels must be on dishtv before july 1 . read this news and enjoy as we are awaiting for this news since long TDSAT puts a lock on any DTH operator carrying Star channels Indiantelevision.com Team ( 26 May 2006 4:00 pm) MUMBAI: As the second direct-to-home player Tata Sky gears for launch, the Telecom Disputes Redressal and Settlement Tribunal (TDSAT), in an interim order passed today, has ruled that Star channels will not be made available to any other DTH platform. The development took place as Star India gave an undertaking in this regard to the disputes tribunal, which posted the case for hearing on 3 July on a petition filed by the Subhash Chandra-owned Dish TV. If this order is interpreted in another way, it could also mean that Tata Sky would not be able to launch before 3 July and if it does so, it would have to do without the Star channels. Its test signals for the service also would not carry any Star channels till 3 July. Contacted by Indiantelevision.com, a Tata Sky spokesperson refused comment saying they had not received any notification from the tribunal on the matter. Star officials also declined to comment. The Chandra-promoted ASC Enterprises, which owns a DTH licence to operate a service under Dish TV brand, had moved TDSAT on 25 April alleging that Star was flouting the sector regulator's (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India - Trai) diktat on making available all content to all platforms on flimsy grounds. The ASC petition states, "The unreasonableness on the part of the respondent is evident from the fact that the respondent has laid down impracticable and unreasonable terms and conditions for supply of its bouquet of channels." The petition also mentions that discussions with Star were initiated by Dish TV in December 2004. Star is 20 per cent shareholder in Tata Sky, while the remaining stake is held by the Tatas. Meanwhile, Dish TV’s negotiations with Discovery-Sony joint venture One Alliance, which distributes signals of channels such as Sony, MTV, Nick, SET Max, Discovery to name a few, too, has not been concluded despite industry sources indicating that a formal announcement was due any time. Dish TV has also won a favourable judgement from TDSAT that has directed MTV Networks to make available MTV and Nick to Dish TV on a commercial basis. MTV has appealed against this order in the Supreme Court. hi friend, plz read the news carefully as it is the order TDSAT not of court it mean that tatasky will not able to air star channels till the star channels is not on dishtv. so if dishtv holdback his appeal from TDSAT than every thing will be ok for both dishtv and tatasky

| There has been an incessant cat-and-mouse squabble going on between the Star, Sony and DishTV groups. The first two are unwilling to supply their channels to DishTV. I am one of those who hates DishTv for how they have treated their customers and would be quite glad to see this company go to dogs. But I dont think that one could expect heaven from any upcoming DTH operators. The point of the fact is that we do not have much of a corporate culture in India and customers are generally brutalized in various ways. Let us wait and see how the TATAs and the Reliances are going to treat us! Last edited by Analoguesat; 28-05-2006 at 03:48 PM | ||

God helps if you are a subscriber of DishTv and your stb breaks down this happened to me.: my zenega 1005 stb started malfunctioning on 14 th april .it stopped showing any signals. the same day i took it to the local service centre.there they tried to make it work by downloading new software but nothing worked. then they told me that they have to send the stb to noida.i asked them if i can get replacement stb as it was still in warrenty, they said no. i decided to wait. on enquiring again i came to know that they have actually dispatched the stb on 25th april full 10 days after i gave the stb.it was received in noida on 29 th april. my warrenty expired on 26thapril. i am still waiting for my stb to get repaired after 1 and a half months. whenever i go to service centre they show me the status which shows it is still pending. i am told that there are customers whose stb has not been repaired for 2-3 months. i tried sending mails ,complaints to dishtv.but no reply. Meanwhile i have bought a fta receiver and now watching dd direct along with arabsat2d. i don't miss dishtv much. Any one else who suffered??

My System: NSS-6 Kaon Box | I think it is high time that the Govt(TDSAT) should take some action against DishTv for adding the one alliance channels without any AV for more than 3 months,it is cheating the consumers into believing that these channels will be added very soon.Either u show these channels with AV or dont add them to your list.I am eagerly waiting for t-sky,any news on when commercial service will begin. ![]() ![]()

| Several members in this forums have complained about DishTV's bad transmission -- frame-freezing, frame loss or blackout, grainy pics etc. Now, why do these things happen? Is it because Dish people use bad compression tech? Are they cutting corners at our expense? | ||
