Dude dont give out wrong info!

The footprint for Tatasky (INSAT-4A) is upto the Arabian Gulf. The map thats posted is for NSS-6 which is the satellite used for DishTV. Check out this info posted on tatasky's website.

h**p://w**.tatasky.com/faqs.htm#1

"Which satellite is Tata Sky using?
Tata Sky is using INSAT 4A, which is an Indian satellite launched by ISRO in December 2005"

Am attaching footprints picture of INSAT 4A which clearly shows that KU Band reception is way into the Arabian Gulf.

And just to reconfirm the question asked by Amadeus, well the good news bro is that I live in Qatar and my friends and I have several tatasky installations here and they're all working fine.

The signal quality we receive is upto 24%, while the minimum quality required is 18%. Recently during the rains and cloudy days a week ago or so. The channels were scrambled due to the low reception level. However, they're back on perfectly fine. Fortunately, it doesn't rain much here in the Gulf! As for Dubai, you guys are more closer to India than us so I am quite sure you will easily receive 30+% of reception at any given point of time.

FYI, I have installed a 180 CMS dish on top of my villa.

In both the images above, Kuband of Insat 4A seems to cover just India. It's the C band that reaches the Arabian Gulf. Well, thats the maps anyway. Seems weird you get it all the way in Qatar.

Pls refer the footprint post below.
You have to set an existing installation towards the Insat 4A to test the signals are avilable or not. If the level and quality are enough then you can proceed.
Somebody posted below that Insat Ku band is receivable in ME.

But no idea how TATASKY is available in other countries.

Best Regards.

Hi,

You have to use big dish for tatasky like 120cm atleast. 90 cm might not pick good quality from tatasky. If possible go with dishtv you will get excellent quality on 90cm dish in shjh. The direction is towards south I guess. I am not a professional in dish things so I can't give you more info about the direction.

Please check threads on this forum there are so many excellent tools which you can use to calculate the direction based on the satellite and the place you live or better get a dish guy to install it for you he should not charge you more than 100 dhs for installation apart from dish cost.

Regards.

My System: dish tv
Tatasky in UAE.

Dear Friends,

Tatasky can work with minm 6 ft or more with solid dish and Good porwer LNB.

But still some times signals gets lost during day hours.

Solid dish costs lot so I think to view indian channels DISHTV would be the good choice though they are not good company...

Dish tv works on 120 CM dish and good LNB.

Thanks

Dear RAYYZ can you post me the settings you did to lock frequency of tatasky (and polarisation) or was it automatically set by the STB. i am getting 40 - 50 % signal in eastern Australia but my freq setting says - D Mod not locked. Thanks

My System: no installed yet

Guys I am new to the DTH world, please help me learn some basics here.

My first Question: Ku-Band and C-Band are the way satellites are sending signals from their transponders, and to receive them...
...you need LNB's that support these Ku-Band or C-Band? if so is there any LNB that is capable of supporting both Ku and C bands?

Next Question: Are the STB's independent of these bands? by that I mean to ask, can any satellite receiver capable of decoding the signals irrespective of whether they are coming from Ku transponders or C transponders?

Last Question: If the satellite receivers are capable to receive any (Ku or C), I can just concentrate on a good branded STB or DVR!? or do I also have to see if the receiver will adopt to Ku band signals or C band signals? If this is the case I am seeing many people suggesting to bring the receivers from 'dish tv' to make it work in Middle east, why is this ? can't they just bring the Smart card and buy a receiver here in ME and use it?

Please help me learn!
thanks

Unlikely - you are a very long way out of the Insat 4A footprint.
