not the clearest of shots, as it was little hazy the morning i took it, but needless to say, it was just preparing to make an exit stage left.

Spider and Droplet

Just an opportunist snap, but i like it anyway.

Unfortunately it would have been better taken with a macro lens, but as I don't have one, it had to be the 500mm lens.

High Force in Teesdale down in the North Pennines. The size of the waterfall can be judged from the people standing around on the rocks at the top of the falls.

There are historic photos of the falls running both sides of the big rock in the middle, but its unlikely to happen again - there is a reservoir a couple of miles up stream

Callistemon citrinus splendens

Red Australian Bottle Brush Plant to everyone else, 2nd year of flowering, very odd plant but the leaves smell of lemon when crushed between your fingers and the seeds smell of eucalyptus oil.

One of my favourite animals

I used to ave a hedgehog in my garden some years ago, but he was driven over by a car. So I was very happy when I heard that very distinctive sound of leaves they do when they look for food at night.
it was dark so I had to guess where he was - he wasn't too happy about the flash

Last time I was surprised by a bright flash like that it was followed a few weeks later by a 75 Euro fine + some points on my drivers license....
So I guess the hog should not complain - I gave him a verbal warning only

This is amazing. This entire river rises out of the ground just outside Georgiopolis having flowed underground from the Lefka Ori mountains a few miles away. You can see the size of the river from the second pic

Not nature, but a hazard up in the Cretan mountains for unwary drivers - the road signs are target for bored youths / hunters....

The road signs are appalling. Either missing completely, badly sited, shot to pieces, overgrown or badly sun faded...
