My System: Innovative, Diseqc Motor, 80cm dish
please recommend an upgrade

my old man has a echostar ad3000ip connected to motorised dish.

he has an old viaccess cam and aston cam, which worked fine with ART sub last year.

but he's just bought a digitalb card. but failed to realise it needs a conax cam.

now rather than just buy a conax cam he wants to upgrade his reciever to something newer, thats easy to use, and can open plenty of footy type channels.

he can link to the net if required, but i not the most technically minded, so dunno if i should really be pointing him down the linux route. he also is intersted in getting a HD reciever, even though channels a few are far between.

all new receivers seem to be diseqc, so should he keep the echostar for moving the dish or buy a v-box?

the cost is pretty much irrellevent

any suggestions welcomed.

My System: 1.2M, & 55cm Gregorian Dish`s, 1.8m Precision dish Jaeger 1224 H-H motor.Dreambox 800, Vbox-II. SS2 Card.

He could go for the vantage X221TS-CI. Its an excellent receiver, with blind scan, its patchable.

Has two CI, also has two conax/xcrypt card readers built in.

Many more features do a search on it.
