Patching?

Hi,
Sorry if this is in the wrong section..

Can somebody tell me what "Patching" is and what it does and its benefits ect? Sorry if its a really stupid question but i hear it mentioned quite alot, ive google'd it but can hardly find any info about it... so i did try to find out before posting on here but no luck?

My System: TM6800HD, TM1000, TM600 Linux,TM5200, TM2200 motor, Triax TD110 dish + Fortec 85cm. Meter=Satlook Micro+G2 NIT

Hi,
In the satellite sense it just means loading alternative unofficial software to the receiver. Usually the official software is hacked about a bit to make it do things it wasn't supposed to, like decrypt pay channels.
