My System: Pace MSS508IP Nokia DVB9600s v3.1 Viaccess radiator CAM Lenson Heath 1m Dish Universal 0.7dB LNB
Question Moved house, need to set rig back up - plus need some advice re. adult stuff

Hi chaps. I have a pretty old setup with the equipment described in my profile. Probably going back to about 1997, I had this equipment installed and setup by a local company and need to do the same again. I just don't know enough or have the right equipment to set it all back up again myself.

I posted in this section because your opinions/advice will dictate whether or not I keep this ancient kit or even have it motorised at all (which it was before I moved).

Basically, I want to be able to receive adult material through my dish, but wonder whether or not to buy all new stuff or just have my old Pace and Nokia boxes set back up by a local firm. In fact, even before I moved, I had used them less and less (possibly not used for 3 to 4 years) and now wonder whether the Nokia box with the Viaccess CAM is still even capable of receiving channels?

After reading several threads before I posted this, I can provide the following summary of what I am after and hopefully you can help point me in the right direction:

1) Is the Pace MSS508IP with the Nokia DVB9600S and Viaccess CAM still OK to use for current adult stuff or would you recommend I upgrade it all. As I understand it, if I want to record stuff, then I'd need a new box with internal HDD recorder (any recommendations?).

2) Is there a quieter motor I can use as the one I have was seriously noisy when changing satellites.

3) What is the best channel for the Euro type material. I can't stand the American mass-produced stuff and prefer the Euro stuff - specifically slimmer girls, Eastern European/Russian/Romanian/Polish etc. and without too many repeats. Sorry if this seems slightly embarrassing but after reading previous posts, get the impression you want us to be as specific as possible!!

Many thanks.

Hello Soundwave,
It all depends on your budget.
I am assuming that your intention is to BUY a subscription smartcard.
If your main objective is to watch and record adult channels, then you can have a simple setup like this one:
(sorry, not in your order)
1 - Nokia 9600S is a great box and you can still use it, unless something went wrong inside like the power supply as you haven't used it for few years.
Just remember that it can't store more than few hundred channels.
So start by deleting all the channels it has now (or a new install will take care of this) and then scan only the transponders that have the adult channels.
Then add any other FTA channels that you like to watch.
2 - Not familiar with the Pace, so just leave it aside for the time being.
3 - Buy a Red Viaccess CAM or upgrade your present CAM to the latest firmware.
4 - Buy a subscription to an adult package that might have the kind of content that you are looking for, in Viaccess encryption.
Beware of packages with many channels that have low quality video and audio bitrate.
For this you might find this useful:
Adult Channels Quality on Hot Bird

5 - Buy a cheap DVD recorder with/without HDD (depends on your budget) and connect the Nokia 9600S VCR output to it's video input connectors.
6 - Hot Bird 13E is packed with adult channels. So you can forget about the motor if you don't like the noise.
7 - If you still want a pvr receiver then consider the Dreambox 600pvr or 7020S (you need to order the HDD as extra)

Well, thats it for now.
