Question Vantage receiver, 2 pin mains plug ?

Hello,

I've just received a new Vantage receiver but it has a pre-attached mains lead with a 2 pin mains plug on it.
Should I attempt to push the 2 pins into a standard UK 3 pin socket or do I need some kind of adaptor?

Thanks a lot,
Lee

Don't force it in a UK socket, either buy an adapter or cut the 2 pin off and fit a normal plug.

Thanks Mickha.

Looking at wikipedia, it seems to be a 'europlug'. The 2 pins very slightly bend in towards each other. Vantage are made in Germany, I believe.

I think I'll fit a UK plug on it myself. Which rating fuse should I put in? The back of the unit says:-
AC 90 - 250V ~,
50/60Hz, MAX. 25W

Of course, any advice given to me here, undertaken at my own risk.

Thanks again,
Lee

Thankyou all.

3 Amp sounds right in line with this part of the wikipedia page :-

"Europlugs are only designed for low-power (less than 2.5 A) Class II (double-insulated) devices that operate at normal room temperature and do not require a protective-earth connection."

I'll see if I have a 3 amp fuse first .. if not I'll resist and look for an adaptor tomorrow.
Would be handy if my local Asda have them in their electronics / electrical department !

Make sure its not plugged in when you cut it! If you forget you get a huge shower of blue sparks and ruin the blades on the cutter

Sounds nasty :O

All went well. Took me ages to do the cable and wire the plug, not having done it for ages and using a pair of scissors to bare the cable (!) ... oh and I so carefully wired the 2 wires the wrong way round before checking and realising and having to do it again. Even though I indeed knew 'BLue - Bottom Left, BRown - Bottom Right'. Can I use being tired as an excuse?
Not really my thing fiddling about with little wires!
Thanks again for all your 'on the spot' advice last night!
