Dish Paint ?

Hi guys. In respect for my neighbour who hinted he thought it stated in the deeds that all aerials should be 'In the loft' I intend to spray paint my largish disk a colour similar to the background bricks.
I presume I cannot use metallic paint and seek info on which paint to use. (aerosol). A source would help assuming the standard 'plastic' in DIY shops is not suitable TIA.

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Tell him its not an aerial - its a dish and it wont work if its in the loft.

Matt car primer will do fine.

Thanks for that but: Primer probably ain't brick colour. I assume you mean cellulose but that might react with the paint that's on it. ? My neighbour is the sort who would have a word with the LA and I guess they would still 'suggest' that two dishes and a terrestial aerial on the chimney is a bit much.

Some matt plasticote paint from B&Q should do it. I'm pretty sure that's what I used on my Triax to paint it green. Since your dish is dark, it should only need a light spray over.

My System: Topfield 5800 Echostar3000,DB7000, Relook 400S, Humax HDC2000, 55cm Fibo Gregorian dish with waveguide and Motek 2100 mod, 90cm Fibo Gregorian dish, 120cm Fibo Gregorian dish on a 1224 motor with waveguide

I used 'Hammerite' , mixed copper, gold and a touch of red to get as close to brick as I could. It's not aerosol, but hammerite is very easy to apply.

After the paint has hardened just matt the suface with 'scotchbrite'

My System: Dreambox DM7020, Orbital 1m Dish, MTi 0.2dB Twin lnb, Technomate SG2200 motor. Rover DM16C Digimax & Rover DL4 Meters.

As AS has already stated its not an aerial

Does it say anything in the deeds about satellite dishes ?

If not you can legally put upto a 1m dish on your property. The best bit about it is there isn't a fat lot he can do about it

I've had a similar run in with my neighbors in the past over my 2 dishes.

I got round it buy installing the biggest size i could get away with under current law. I have since under the cover of darkness increased both dishes in size

There is now a 1m and a 90cm dish up which the neighbor hasn't said a thing about

I'm always under the assumption that neighbors who complain have nothing else better to do with their sad little lives other than make peoples lives a misery

Yeah, put them up at night nano, when no-ones looking, works a treat.

Another option I have used is to spread the dishes around a bit, so that one neighbour can only see the one dish. For example aileen, your minidish could be moved so that it can't be seen from your neighbour's property.

He's not a bad old fellow. Has probably slept since comment and forgotten it. I have to agree dishes are a bit ugly on the low level of a bungalow. Definition as mentioned above: It would never come to it but in a Court a Judge would probably lump dishes and aerials all as 'Antenna' and define them together for the purpose. This being my guess. I cannot find if there is precedent of this. It concerns me that, as I understand it, motors cab be a bit noisy should I have one fitted. Don't want to push my luck.

The Motecks with nylon gears are not really that noisy. I find that from inside that you have to strain your ears to check that its actually moving sometimes. My metal geared Stab, when I had it on the side of my house, was not too bad either.

Can't remember correctly but I think that the planning regulations do indeed lump them as 'Antenna'; can't immediately recall a judicial or other precedent either.

Sorry that whilst not contributing to the painting conundrum, I have a request. Could you and Robbo kindly put me out of my curiosity by confirming what satellites the four LNBs are receiving?

Read the sticky for planning guidelines, UHF TV aerials are not counted, it is dishes only and yours comply with size and number restrictions.

My System: 75e-75w C & KU, 36v diseqc Anlg to HD Channel Master C120 dishes, stbs, lnbs, motors, too much to list

The planning regulations do call satellite dishes... antennae - typical civil servants writing regulations like arranging so much spaghetti on a plate ready to either confuse or be unravelled...

You can have two of these satellite antennae up to 1m and 60cm on a property... Literally.. To me that could mean an LNB with antennae up to 1m & 60cm inside the lnb and the reflector/ dish can be anything you want ... they don't mention it...

The planning site does show favoured positions for satellite dishes (they ave pictures of em- look more like a load of balls to me) .... not on a ground floor though.. X ..oops.. (bungalows excluded)

BTW... Nice neat looking job...
