CI Question

I have a Panasonic TV with a CI CAM slot and am not sure what I can view from it.
Is it the same as the slots on Satellite receivers ? Asked Panasonic and they said check with the card seller. I am looking to use it for increasing my viewing options but am not sure if the range of cards I see advertised would work by this option.
Any advice appreciated.

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 5 fixed dishes (5E/7E/9E/13E/16E /19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S

Is the tv rated for DTT or satellite reception? (Chances are its DTT)

I don' know. Its a Viesta TH-42PZ1B The one with Freesat built in. Under 'Advanced settings it has an option: 'Add other Sat. services - Set all receivable satellite Services' All over my head I'm afraid and probably of those telly users who want to venture forth to satellite but don't know how.

Yes that option allows you to receive from other satellites, it will also operate a motor and a DiSEqC switch I believe, but since you have the Clarke Tech it is not necessary.

As for the CAM slot, I suspect that it is for terrestial TV, like Sentanta or TOP-UP Tv or what ever its called. The TV manual should say whether the CAM slot is set up for satellite use as well, but I'm not convinced it will be as the Freesat boxes don't have a CAM slot and the Freesat software may not be there to decode it.

Another option may be to buy a card slot (if available) for your Clarke Tech, I did this for my Technomate which has similar hardware. Although if you wanted to get DigitAlb, it would probably best to wait until you get motorised, as your LNBs are too large to fit one in for 16E.
