What actually software updating do ?

I have Strong Receiver srt 4620x . I have download the last software update. nothing has changed .

So , is the softare update add new features or funtcions to the system? . Or , just adding new channels which can be easily added by scanning the satellite without need to update the software ?

'Free' software updates?.... they are usually fixing bugs that they don't admit to- some do have better features too. Check the version number is the same as the update (and was older before you did it).

The version date is October 23 , 2008 . But as I said I cant see any signifecant difference between the old and new version neither feature nor channels . I am not so experienced in this issue but it is only for my information .

The update may as previously stated fix bugs, but it may contain updated tp information and parameters and other individual satellite information updates, so you should still do a scan to ensure you are receiving all the channels you can

Please tell me where you obtained the updated firmware for you SRT 4620X

The most recent verion I can find is April 15 2008

The required update is (SRT4620X_4651X_4654X_171p_20081022.stb)
you can find it either on this Website .otherwise, you can search for it on the internet.

But you have to ensure that required file version is (1.71P) dated 20081022

I undersatnd that this web do not allow to mention any other sites names . just in case if they allow to disclose it I had find it in crosat.org

pls note. the last manufacturer software update was on April 15 . unfortunately and for some unknown reasons it has some pugs . the most accurate one is what I mentioned above (SRT4620X_4651X_4654X_171p_20081022.stb)

if you have download the update file and setted it up , Please ensure to re-scan the sattelte again ( using the Auto scan option founded in your system ) since the old channels will be gone due to installing the new software.
