My System: Sky dish with quad LNB, 3 sky receiver and 1 Silvercrest SL65/12
poor signal strength & quality

Hi All,
I have a sky mini dish currently running 3 digiboxes from a quad LNB. All are fine. I am trying to add a Silvercrest SL65/12 receiver to the 4th output, but am only getting 32% signal intensity and 11% Signal Quality.
The cable run is approx 40 metres to my workshop away from the house. Is this the problem, or do I have a connection issue?
Any help would be appreciated

My System: Zone1, DSI8215 SkyHD, Thomson DSI4214, TF5000CI, Dreambox DM800 HD PVR - Nab BH0.12, TM-5200D, Gibertini 104cm, SNH-031, 36v Actuator, Vbox-II, 42°E to 30°W, Sling Media, Televes H45 Digital Processing Analyser, Satlook Micro+G2 NIT, Rover SDM 1s

Welcome,

Problem might well be down to a poor termination of one or both of the F connectors. I'd first fetch one of the sky boxes down and connect that to the cable to see if all is ok. This will eliminate any set up issues with the Silvercrest receiver.

A 40m cable run won't give you signal loss to the extent of no signal at all

Question

Thanks Satellite man, I will try that, but can you please explain to a novice what you mean by termination of the F connectors?

My System: TM6800HD, TM1000, TM600 Linux,TM5200, TM2200 motor, Triax TD110 dish + Fortec 85cm. Meter=Satlook Micro+G2 NIT

Putting the connectors onto the cable ends.

Watch out for strands of wire from the braid, touching the core. Also core should protrude a couple of millimetres or so from end of connector.

Also proper double screened 75 ohm satellite cable should be used, preferably wf100 or similar.

Termination: The connection of a suitable coaxial connector to a cable, termination or final connection.

In simple terms, sticking the connector on correctly

Tried digibox on feed, no signal. Checked connection at receiver, OK, I guess it's back up on the roof tomorrow!

Thanks for your help Guys

Before you do that, try substituting a Sky box for the Silvercrest, just in case it really is the new receiver.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
