advice needed for new system for spanish tv

hi,

i live in glasgow and i want to be able to view spanish digital tv, but im not sure where to start. i have an old sky satellite dish that i stopped using, i dont know if its big enoguh to pick up a signal from spain in scotland?

here is what im looking for:

1) spanish tv channels (tele5 if possible but i know this might be encrypted)
2) good strong signal from scotland
3) good satellite receiver that can be modified (maybe the dreambox 500s, or is that more than i need?)
4) reasonably priced (you get what you pay for right?)

thanks in advance

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

As you correctly say, Tele5 is encrypted. There is very little free to air Spanish TV by satellite, see _http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Spain.html

You may pick up an OK signal with your Sky dish for the channels on Astra 19.2 East, but the LNB is skewed for reception of an Eastern satellite and you will need to find some way of changing this if you wish to view the channels on Hispasat, otherwise get a good quality 80cm dish, our forum advertisers page is a good place to start.

Receiver wise, if you are going to buy a subscription card, you need a receiver with embedded Nagravision and a card slot, I believe that the Dreambox will work with a nagravision card, but you'll have to check first.

Well

As mentioned by Rolf, Hispasat however all the programs worth watching are encrypted these days unless you like palm reading and tarot cards. Cannot recommend a box as I have only ever has my ID digital and doubt I would buy anything newer until I am forced to upgrade to HD.
