NEWBIE HERE....LOOKING TO PURCHASE SATELLITE SYSTEM TO PICK UP EUROPEAN/FOREIGN CHANNELS....ANY ADVICE WOULD BE WELCOMED ON THE BEST/CHEAPEST AVAILABLE...i.e.RECIEVER/DISH...UNSURE OF TYPE OF SYSTEM TO BUY...?

My System: IDD CI24 ECONO MM Penta 1.20 Galaxy II 1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 21 years and is still driven by a modified wiper motor from a Ford Anglia. It's like me sometimes groans but always performs

There are approx 8000 channels up on the Clarke curve above the UK what is it you are looking for?
There's lots of information on the forum already once you decide what you want to watch but you have to read it, apart from the FTA channels the days of free stuff are almost over.

My System: TM6800HD, TM1000, TM600 Linux,TM5200, TM2200 motor, Triax TD110 dish + Fortec 85cm. Meter=Satlook Micro+G2 NIT

You can't go far wrong with a Diseqc motorised setup to start off with.

For example, 1m dish, TM2300 motor, Technomate or similar receiver.
