My System: Echostar AD-3000IP & Sky+ |
Hi I am looking to replace my Echostar AD-3000IP. I use a 90cm motorised dish. I have been looking at various boxes and am getting totally confused. The boxes I have look at are: Topfield SRP2100 - _http://www.topfield.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=31:to pfield-srp-2100-media-solution&catid=13 vr-a-hdd-receivers&Itemid=10_http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/digital-tv-recorders/topfield-srp2100-633342/review LyngBox - _http://www.lyngbox.com/ AZBox - _http://www.azbox.com/ AB IPBox 9000 - _http://www.sateuropa.co.uk/product_overview.asp?id=1879&catid=1&subcat=56 Of these the LyngBox seems to get the worst reviews. I belive LyngBox, AZ Box and AB IPBox all run the Linux operating system. I have no experience of Linux. Will this be a problem? Also, I live near Southampton and I do not think there are any dealers near me that stock these Linux boxes anyway. Anybody got any experience of these boxes. I like the idea of having an internet connection. It would be very nice to have access to BBC iPlayer too, buy I believe none of these boxes can do this yet? They also have a nice feature of being able to transfer recordings from the built in hard drive onto either a USB hard drive or onto your PC hard drive via an eithernet connection. Wish Sky+ box could do this!!!!! As I understand it these boxes CANNOT give you the full 7 day EPG for UK channels, just NOW and NEXT? But they can give 7 day EPG for European channels. Is this correct?

| First thing you will need is a DiSEeC converter box, otherwise the new receivers cannot 'talk' to the motor. The rest is all down to personal preferences, most you have mentioned have their own sections within the forum for you to gain some advice from others. | ||

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me. | As you clearly know, there are Broadcasters on other Satellites who do give up to 7 days worth of Data - mainly German Channels - but it really isn't widespread amongst European Channels as a whole.
