TM Receiver For JSC and Cyfra+

Hi

Please help! Been looking everywhere but can't get the answers I need. I'm looking to buy a Technomate receiver possibly a 3300. I want it for Al Jazeera Sports and Cyfra+ but want to know if this receiver will work with them (i'm completely new to this other than Sky!). If not will a 5300 do the trick? Any other pointers are greatly appreciated too.

Thanks in advance

Neil

My System: technomate 6800 +diablo - im motorised dish

dude first - make sure your al jaz card is one of the new irdeto cards and it will work in any technomate with a mulitcrypt cam - however if it is a viaccess card it will need to be in a 3.0 viaccess cam otherwise you will risk it being turned off after 8-9 month as the tm can't receive the update it gets sent -

cyfra plus - yes it will work again in any tm multicrypt - however you will need to leave it in an offical cyfra receiver overnight once a month to enable it to get the monthly update - again the tm won't update the card

get a tm 5400 ( ci slot for future card problems ) and offical cyfra receiver to use both properly

i have a tm 6800 and i have all 3 of these cards! so i know!

Thumbs up

Robbie

Thanks very much for that. All I've found so far are people who just try to avoid what I'm asking and then try to sell me something I don't want and need. Good to get advice from a punter who actually has what I'm after. Wasn't aware of the updating aspect so that's a good pointer and it's more Al Jazeera I'm looking for so that's made up my mind just to leave Cyfra+ for the moment (don't think the wife would understand - it took me long enough the other night trying to explain why we couldn't use the Sky mini dish!). TM 5400 with an Irdeto card it is then!

Cheers

Neil

We live in a new house and never ever got a terrestrial aerial fitted because we were getting Sky. The 18 month old has since turned into a three and a half year old we can't get near the TV for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! And when we do it's soaps all the way so I decided to get a different satellite all together to watch in the kitchen (another mini dish incidentally - just need to get everything wired up when I've got the rest of the hardware) so we can all watch at the same time. Happy days!
