My System: manhattan plaza xt-m, and the dish came with the house so I don't really know :( |
my apologies for using this thread to ask this but am really new to the satellite world and you guys apparently have the same line of receiver I got (manhattan plaza xt-m). in all fairness am very confused at all the info I can get online, basically I was checking the flysat page for satellites with slovak (girlfriend) channels and spanish (me - Argentininan) channels. I found a couple but it's impossible for me to add them to the box, I add them I put the correct lon/lat W/E and then I perform a blind search, the channels are listed in flysat as fta but the scan doesn't get them, I even tried to configure a manual transponder and put the values that the page tells where the channels are and nothing. I assume Astra is a satellite but I don't know what the 1F/ 1KR / 1L is, I found that to be the beam ?? but I didn't find a way of configuring that. any help, even if it's calling me noob and pointing me to an already written manual / doc about this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bicho[DBZ]

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me. | ".......... the Dish came with the house......" (From your User Profile). So, whatever Receiver you connect to the Dish, you will only ever be able to pick up Channels from the Satellite it is aligned to - That will almost certainly be 28e (Astra 2/ Eurobird 1) unless you know for sure otherwise. Therefore, no amount of reading and scanning will gain you a bean. You will need to consider which Satellite position(s) your desired Channels are on then we can advise you how to go about succeeding ![]() BTW Astra 1F, 1KR, 1L etc are just individual Satellites forming a co-located cluster at 19.2E: With a Dish aligned there, a scan should get 'em all.

Welcome to the forum Bicho[DBZ] I have moved your post to its own thread as it is not related to the other thread apart from the equipment. I think you need to do a lot of reading on the forum before taking any more steps. You need to determine what is in the skies above you and what it is you wish to see. The inactive link below shows you the list of Easterly satellite available _http://www.lyngsat.com/europe.html The next the Westerly _http://www.lyngsat.com/atlantic.html They are in an arc in the sky as shown in the pic You first need to determine where your dish is pointing, so what can you see on your stb, what channels and what frequencies Edit darn too slow

| Unless the dish has a large bit of metal hanging off the back of it, it is unlikely you will get both Slovak and Spanish channels off it. As for Argentinian, you will need a dish of some 3metres and good neighbours. | ||

My System: Gibertini 1.5m, Jaeger 1224, Vantage x221 TS CI... Fibo 90, Mot-Sat3, Manhattan Plaza XT-M... Satcatcher Excel-TV, Lacuna Mk4 | There's pretty much no decent Spanish channels free to air. There's TVE International on Hotbird which is mainly a load of patriotic nonsense and a few low budget regional channels on Astra 1 and Hispasat. There's talk of a whole bouquet of free channels coming up on Hispasat with the analogue switch off in February but I wouldn't hold your breath.

My System: 1.8m PF Dish, most sky and freesat recivers, 80cm on Illusion motor and Dreambox DM7025, TDT | from what I understand is that in areas that are not (going to be) covered by TDT transmitters, they will receive special receivers and viewing cards to allow them to access the TDT channels via the Hispasat "feeds" (that are used to distribute the TDT channels to the varoius land base transmitter sites). Various paperwork etc is required to prove you are in an area of no TDT reception etc before you get the kit. will try to find the link but i got it over a year or so ago about it but may have misfiled it / deleted it.

Satcatcher Excel-TV, Lacuna Mk4 | Woborny, the procedure is so long winded that after the analogue switch off in Soria more than 10% of people lost their tele and many still don't have it after months. At the analogue switch off in February it is estimated 96% of the population will be under the umbrella of TDT signals. That leaves some 2 million people without signal. Do you really see that procedure being able to efficiently provide tele to those 2 million? And the 96% is optimistic because right now there's only 86% coverage.

My System: manhattan plaza xt-m, and the dish came with the house so I don't really know :( | hello guys, thanks for the prompt answer. I been on the sat pages on lyngsat and flysat where I could find which satellites have some spanish / slovak tv, and yes, I understand that I probably won't be able to see them both given that they're on different sats, and the antenna is waay too high to be moving it constantly. I think the slovak channels are either in astra 3 / thor 5, my main doubt was the beam thing, given that I am fairly sure that I get some astra 3 channels but they're all in english, also my ignorance made me think that astra was just one satellite with different "beams" that point to different parts and transmit different channels, as I wouldn't think that 1KR 1L 1G are all different satellites on their own. I think my only choice is getting my hands on some serious ladder and move it. I know it won't give maybe a lot of info to all of u guys, but this same dish is on every single house on the block, so I assume is the one that sky installs, or any other "standard" provider in london. Thanks all Bicho PS: I know there's no way I'll get argentinian channels, but in all fairness I won't miss a lot

Nor me. | There are no English Channels on Astra 3! Astra 3 (23.5E) mainly carries Slovak, German, Dutch. English are mainly carried on Astra 2/Eurobird 1 (28.2/28.5E) Anyway, you have a Dish aligned to 28.2/28.5E. In order to use it elsewhere, we need to know what size it is in order to tell you what is feasible - and what is not. For example, you won't get the majority of the Czech or Slovak Channels from 23.5E without a much bigger Dish. And a Subscription (Albeit there are one or two Free To Air Channels).

Satcatcher Excel-TV, Lacuna Mk4 | Astra 1M is an E3000 too so I guess the footprint of that might be a good guide. Your projected footprint looks pretty similar. Also with 30 extra transponders available maybe we'll get lucky with some additional FTA. Not a sniff of 3A on the 1.5m here.
