My System: Fixed dish on 19.2e for free to air only. | The first deal appears the better - Decent bolts/plugs can be a sod to find if you have no trade contacts, or so i found (this was prior to the days of Ebay By polar mount, they are referring to a type of dish mount that when the dish is moved left/right it automatically decreases/increases the elevation setting to follow the arc in which satellites `live` - known as the Clarke belt. The actuator is a piston like device which retracts/pushes an arm to move the dish. I belive that such devices are not compatible with DiseqC 1.2, as back in the day it was neccesary to trun a seperate `doorbell` style cable to the dish to power the motor - DiseqC 1.2 uses the co-ax cable.

My System: Dreambox 7000, Skystar2 | Ahhh, right, now this is going to count as one of your two questions for today! ![]() The first option is good. It's what I have, so I'm not shittin' you. Excellent starter kit at a realistic price. You won't be dissappointed. Motor is as good as you can get for dishes under 1M, and the dish is right up there too. Can't comment on the mount or cable obviously. Just take care to fix securely AND get the motor-mount pole EXACTLY vertical. You shouldn't bother yourself with polar mounts and actuators at this stage IMHO.

My System: Dreambox 7000, Skystar2 | The polar mount is sort of a specially constructed swivel joint which forces the actual dish to follow the satellite arc in the sky, and the actualtor is a motor-driven piston if you like to actually drive the dish side to side on the joint. Sorry, that was awful English but hopefully you'll get it.

My System: Dreambox 7000, Skystar2 | The geometry is all built into the motor body and driving mechanics. Nice and simple. I'm sure your mount will be infinitely better if you can weld. Dip it or paint it and it should last forever. Over engineer rather that under. Do it in steel. The vertical pole must be round tubular section for the motor to mount correctly. Nice thick wall, or the clamps will crush it. 2" to 3" dia.

My System: Dreambox 7000, Skystar2 | Cool. Make sure the vertical part of the pole is far enough away from the wall, or your dish will foul on full tilt. Copy the dims from a good quality one. 12 - 18 ins offset is about right.

| You really need "T & K" brackets with a length of scaffold pole between. The "T & K" brackets allow you the get your pole dead upright. Do a google for the brackets or look at the picture that "Rolfw" quite often posts of a set up. That mount you posted is too flexible for use with a motor. PS. My System: Fixed dish on 19.2e for free to air only. | Just a thought, i do have some T&K brackets - they are old, but have never been installed, so have a little surface rust where they sat in my garage, but nothing that wouldnt rub off. Email address removed if interested. | ||
