My System: Comwell CI-45 Sky digibox Astra 1/2
Missing transponder

I've had a Comwell digital sat receiver set up in UK for receiving Astra-1 at 19.2E using 80cm dish with twin LNB. This was a Dutch receiver with in-built Seca slot because I bought it to receive Dutch channels through Canal+. Everything fine for 2 months but since about two weeks ago, we've lost all Dutch channels: no signal. However we can still get many other channels eg German, Spanish, French on both H and V polarisation. We are however not getting any signal on several H transponders inc the Dutch.

We thought it was a dish alignment problem but the sat engineer we used said not and it has proved to be a fault with the signal input on the receiver - he suggested that we were using too small a coax and that the F input connector was warming up and losing contact with the coax core.

Is this likely? Or is the F socket on the back of the receiver likely to be broken or faulty. Do we need a new receiver? I've tried with a short length of thicker coax (CT100) as a bridge but that hasn't been any better. We've even had receiver checked out and loose joints in the tuner resoldered - no effect.

Any suggestions where to go from here?

Thanks

Peter

Hello

Welcome to the forum quantrell33, have a look here and tell us what channels you cannot receive. Are they all on one frequency? If so did you by any chance install a DECT phone around the same time? as they are known to sometimes interfere with particular frequencies. It is unlikely to be cable problems since you can receive other channels.

As regards what the 'sat engineer' has said, well I am no expert but the scenario is unlikely I would have thought.
