My System: DreamBox 7000s - Nokia Freeview - Several GameBoys - DS Lite - ZX81 - SNES - N64 - Sega Saturn Dreamcast - PlayStation - Gamecube - PSP - iPod - iPhone - XBox - PS3 - Wii - No Life! | No it would just help with the weaker signals. Do you have a picture of the tree and how far away it is. The dish is almost vertical but the signal is received by the LNB which is at an angle. if you can imagine the opposite angle and that clears the tree then you're OK. see here... http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/...8&d=1117750003

My System: Silvercrest SL65 FTA receiver + two dish setups. One 90cm. one 60cm two universal LNB's. | I went ti Lidl on Monday also, and purchased the Silvercrest to replace my Echostar which I find difficult to programme.I set it up without any problems scanned for Hotbird, got all the FTA channels on that. I have two dishes, one 90cm pointed at Arabsat, one smaller pointed at Hotbird (or it my be the other way around, cant remember now), two universal LNB's. Now, in the pre-programmed satellite list I couldn't find Arabsat. How would I be able to scan for that, and what other satellites would I be able to get with these two dishes and the direction the are pointing? Should I set up the Echostar to just get the Arabsat and leave the Silvercrest one to do Hotbird? I also bought a thingy for searching the satellite signals, where would I insert this? I also got another LNB (just in case), can I add this to the dish somehow to pick up other satellites?

If this was working before with the Echostar then do we assume you have a diseqc switch? Or were you manually changing cables?

If you turn up the volume - when you find a satellite position is will scream (loud) then adjust the volume to the weakest signal and adjust the dish to see if the signal improves. Keep adjusting to get the best signal then tighten the dish and remove the finder.

My System: Silvercrest SL65 with DiSeq 1.2 motor, HDrive 100gigs, dvd recorder, 5.1 goodmans surround sound, xbox360 wifi live, goodmans GD3 | i just managed to find hotbird, got Mediaset, and all the RAI, and also managed to keep some of my favourites from astra, RTL and Super RTL, guess they are on hotbird too, along with tonnes of arab channels, very happy indeed ![]() however, was watichin Raiuno and when a programme i wanted to watch came on, the screen came up with the 'scrambled' message, it had happened before with raitre, but i thought it might just have been interference on the signal, but happening twice got me a bit worried. do certain channels scramble their signals for satellite viewers for some programmes? or was it just a glitch?

| Hi Yesterday I had a SilverCrest SL 65 I think it is brilliant for the money I understand you can enhance the performance of the receiver by patching the software . have you any views on this, what links I've found are all dead Jamie | ||

Welcome to the forum stanners91 You seem a trifle confused here. Freeview is the terrestrial digital transmission which is currently transmitted simultaneously with the terrestrial analogue channels until the latter is switched off. The signal you receive on the sl65 will be digital and better quality than the analogue signals but not necessarily better than the digital terrestrial. No you cannot currently receive channel4 and channel five as they are nds encrypted until 2008 but they can be received using a £20.00 sky card no subscription necessary

My System: Silvercrest SL65 FTA receiver + two dish setups. One 90cm. one 60cm two universal LNB's. | Thanks Topper, I assume there is a diseqc switch as I did not have to touch the cables. Last night I sat there for about three hours trying to figure everything out. As I have just bought the receiver should I do an upgrade yet? Would that improve anything? I did manage to work out how to get Nilesat (or think I have) I just went to New Satelite, changed the name to Nilesat and did a scan....it seems to have picked up loads of channels, but whether they are actually Nilesat I dont know till I get home with my copy of What Satellie bought this morning on the way to work. Has Arabsat changed its name to Badr? My son-in-law has the same receiver bought some months back, that seems to have a different set-up procedure which is easier than this one. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me if I am doing it wrong?

But it is definitely patchable to some degree.

My System: silvercrest digital satellite system 60cm dish receiver dvb-s sl65 and universal twin lnb brought from Lidl |
I too have a Silvercrest system, can pick up most channals but i am looking to pick up romanian tv for my wife. I have read the channals are broadcast on the sirius satellite,is it just a matter of a lot of playing about with it to get it to pick up the satellite? I am also thinking of a motor for the dish,so would the dish align its self automatically(the motor would be of course DISQC compatible to the receiver) sorry for going on a bit,but any help would be great, thanks for your time.Lee. oh and from my wife. Also not sure if i am posting this in the right place, sorry.

Im only 30 miles south of you. Have a look at my digitalsat website _http://www.digitalsat.co.uk You should get similar results with your dish. You wont get everything as Im using 80cm dishes, but it will give you a representative sample of the stronger satellites you can expect to find.

My System: DVB-S SL 65 | I just got the silvercrest system from LIDL, with an 80 cm dish. Anyway I dont know much about satellites. I installed it ok and am getting italian and german stations and loads of arab stations aswell. What I want to view though are the English Channels BBC, ITV etc which I am not recieving due to a poor signal. I tried moving the dish a bit, but it didnt work. Would it help if I installed another similar dish in the opposite direction? Thanks.

Check the other Sky dishes in your area and that will give you an idea where to point the dish. It will be to the left of your current position when viewed from the back of the dish. Mark the dish position on the mount before you move it - then you can put it back easily.

My System: Pace 2200 Sky digibox with ftv card, Comag SL65 FTA sat receiver, 40cm Sky minidish, Setpal terrestrial receiver (for free uk tv only!). | To find Sky, (in UK!), should also work in Eire ...... 1 The big 3 (largest output power, so cause biggest "noise" on a sat-finder) European dbs sats are Hotbird, Astra1, Astra2 (Sky)). 2. Of these, Hotbird is furthest right (looking from behind dish, towards satellite). 3. Astra1 is then approx 3 degrees left of Hotbird. 4. Asta2 (Sky) is then 9 degrees further left of Astra1, so that's 3 times the previous separation, and also DOWN JUST A LITTLE BIT! I can't comment on relative beam strengths as received in EIre, you'll have to look at "footprint" maps, easy enough to find on Web!

My System: Silvercrest SL65 FTA receiver + two dish setups. One 90cm. one 60cm two universal LNB's. | My Freeview box is playing up (has been since the first day I set it up), its a Thompson with a slot for Top Up TV. I am going to take it back and get a refund. I was looking through the posts here and can see that some channels should be available on my satellite (so why buy another Freeview) would I be able to get the normal five, plus some of the sky channels without a Sky card if I move one of my dishes?Hmmm?
