My System: SilverCrest SL 65, Antenna CO 55 and Digital Twin LNB
Unhappy SilverCrest SL 65. Picture Quality

Hi. I have a SilverCrest SL 65 Satelite system. I have it all put together as the manuel instructions say.
During setup, I can get all the OSD and Channel lists for TV and Radio.
During insalation the OSD says I have 98-100% signal but 0% quality.

Can anyone tell me if they have the same problem and if there is any way of fixing it.

This is the second system i bought after having the same problem with the first one

Hello

Welcome to the forum damien

Ok there is insufficient information in your post to be able to begin guessing what your problem is.
I would point out that there are some very good howtos on the forum in the appropriate sections on how to set up a dish lnb and stb
As regards the missing info
Firstly are you using an existing dish and lnb, if not how have you determined where you are pointing the dish?

Secondly have you checked you have made the F- connections correctly on the cable?

Thirdly is your stb set on a channel using an existing transponder on 28.2 East? if not it will not pick up any signal quality therefore will leave you groping in the dark.
Have a look at lyngsat.com for details.

I have a 57cm dish and a 80cm dish and get the same signal quality (80-84) and signal intensity (90-92) regardless of which dish I use, and I live in Perthshire, Scotland.

Adding new satellites to Silvercrest Sl65/12

Hi, I got the sl 65/12 12 volt version to use in Valencia, Spain and am using it with a proprietary 80 cm dish to receive Astra 19.2 and Hotbird. It was amazingly easy to install it for these satellites, and only took about a minute ( although I had spent ages making sure that the mounting was absolutely true etc). Never having had access to a tv satellite before, I was expecting to have to spend hours on the process.

Now I would like to add Nilesat using the tiny dish that came with the set, but am having no success at all, at least partly because I don't find the instructions for adding a new, not pre-set, satellite at all easy to follow. They seem to assume a level of theoretical knowledge I don't have.

Do I need to enter settings in the following categories that come up on the menu?
Tp
LNB frequency
Transmission frequency
TP
Symbol rate
Polarity

I can work out what LNB & transmission frequency and Polarity are, but what about Tp , TP and Symbol Rate? And, possibly more important, where can I find the settings if I need them? I've spent a fair time googling, but I haven't found a site with the answers (or possibly i have, but can't understand them)?

Or do I just have to point it in the right direction and scan? Would it help if I disconnected the other two LNBs until the process was complete.

Thanks for any replies. I also suspect that the dish may be too small, so any views on that would be welcome as well.

Other than that, my only reservation is that just having the channel number on the receiver, with no indication of the satellite or favourites section it is in, makes it difficult to use in radio mode with standalone speakers without also having the television on, which always seems a waste of energy to me, given I am short on solar and battery capacity..

Your dish is pointed at 19.2E by the sounds of it. This location shares many of the same frequencies as 28.2E so thats why your scan picked up the German channels. Move it round to the east by 9 degrees and lower the elevation slightly.

My System: Covering 30W-105.5E range, two motors, C and Ku band. Various receivers/cards/cams/etc.

I also have this receiver SL65/2CI

Is there's ability it to cycle only trough channels in favorite menu, instead of cycling around all sats?

Hello

Welcome to the forum dids858

well what channels if any are you receiving currently?, how have you aligned your dish?, what satellite/channels do you want to watch?
Forget about modifying until you actually have the basics working

Thanks,

I have been aiming at astra 19 and 28 but nothing changes. I have read elsewhere that it might be the LNB cables not fitted fully.

Do you know if I can view using my laptop due to the port on the back of the box?

Well you haven't answered one of the questions I asked... How are you aiming at those two satellites? both at the same time? are you moving the dish by hand What do you mean cables, how many cables are there and why more than one?

You need to describe what you have and how you are going about doing it in greater detail

Before thinking about anything else like viewing on your laptop (which I doubt you can do) I suggest you actually attain a working channel viewed through your TV

In the absence of any feedback information from you to my original questions, I can only suggest you read the dish setup guides

I have been using a sat compass which comes with the box. in various postions. Moving by hand as there is no motor.

There is one lead, F conection from box to dish I think I need to check this as there are different diagrams on how the connector should be fitted to the cable on here than in the manual.

As for the laptop I was just wondering for referance.

Well done

Nice little boxes, these, albeit with a few quirks!

My System: Comag sl55 Silvercrest sl65

Hi all.
My SL-65 had been in the cupboard since last year. I took it out last night and discovered that the remote control will not operate the receiver via 2.4ghz AV senders/remote extenders.
The remote works fine when pointed directly at the receiver, just not via the video senders.
When I first bought the sl-65 last year, it had no problem operating via the video senders. I tried two different pairs of AV senders, neither can operate the sl-65, but both can operate a comag sl-55 perfectly.

My setup requires the use of av senders, feeding satellite cable to the TV is too awkward. If I cannot get this problem resolved, buying a new FTA receiver would be my preferred option. I wonder if anyone has any ideas?

Incidently, the comag sl-55 is almost 5 years old and still works as good as new, despite being subjected to all sorts of abuse in its early days!
