Question receiver query Eutelsat Hotbird

I had an anologue receiver pointed at hotbird which has now died! I'm looking for a cheap digital receiver for the Italian channels. Should I go for a FTA receiver or pay a little more? I have an 80c.m. dish. Has anybody got any suggestions about what I should do or suggest any suitable recievers?

Many thanks Den

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Hi Den, oyu can buy a cheap but reasonable quality digital receiver for less than £100 from somewhere like www.sateuropa.co.uk, but you may find it limiting in the longer term. There are some very good value UCAS receivers around now, that will give you the potential of expanding your viewing in the future. Technomate also make a very good Analogue/digital receiver, so you could get the best of both worlds.

If you buy an FTA only you will end up buying something better
sooner rather than later! You might even get a very good deal buying
a receiver and CAM at the same time.

See the Lidl thread in the Analogue section, Lidl now have a cheap twin CI digital receiver at sub £100.
