My System: Humax F1 Fox in motorhome with Kathrein square antenna
Mobile system/fast scanning recommendation?

I currently use a Humax F1 Fox in my motorhome, with a Kathrein 50cm square 'dish'. It's worked fine so far, we've just come back from a trip to Turkey via Croatia, Albania & Greece, we were able to keep in touch with BBC Radio 2 & 4 via the Astra 2B south beam as far as Croatia, and BBC World TV into Turkey from something at about 5W (Nile Sat?)

The big drawback of the Humax is the time it takes to scan for channels, once we are set up and found a satellite signal it can take up to a couple of hours for a full scan. It's not a problem if we've only moved a short distance because then we can just use the previously stored settings, but if it's been a few days and we have travelled several hundred kms we could well have moved out of one satellite footprint and into another.

So, what I'm looking for is suggestions for a receiver that willl scan much quicker than the Humax - I'm only interested in FTA.

TIA,

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

The little Novus receiver I have used, scans Hotbird in around 3 minutes and is pretty cheap, but it isn't blind scan, purely on the receiver's internal list of transponders.

Thanks, but I really need a fast blind scan facility.

Ones that usually come up in recomendations are:

Manhattan Plaza ST100
Fortec Star Classic
Technomate TM1000D

Anyone have experience of the blind scan facility on these, or have other suggestions?

My System: Pace 2200 Sky digibox with ftv card, Comag SL65 FTA sat receiver, 40cm Sky minidish, Setpal terrestrial receiver (for free uk tv only!).

My tiny SL65 from Lidl, £40, also has good fast blind scan, not quite 3 mins, maybe 10 mins for Astra1. But, as people know, they're only in stock occasionally.

Maplin were seling off the Fortec classic, which does scan but is older receiver so probably slower ........ and seems they've run out now (none on website, possibly still in some shops?).

At satellite superstore, www.satellitesuperstore.com/fortec.htm, a bit pricey!

Fortec website: www.fortecstar.com/

Added - aha - Creative Satellite - are selling the Ultra for good price, but check the scanning speed first ...........www.creativesatellite.co.uk .
