Best New Receiver advice

My trusty HUMAX 5100 - CI just went belly up

Thus I need a new receiver which will work with an XCAM and have Diseqc 1,2 in order to run 4 LNBs.

All hopefully for around the £100 - £150 mark...

Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

KJ

Hi KnockJohn and welcome to the best sat forum on the web...

I have been using a Technomate 1500+ for quite some time and it's excellent. It is very easy to patch with any patch (Darman's is BRILLIANT) and keys are easy to enter as well. There's a card reader built in and one free CI for your CAM...

Will set you back under £100

The Sleepy Hollow pollracle has spoken!

I agree, never used one, but Technomate 1500's seem to be the best to buy...

I have had a Technomate TM1500 CI for about 6 weeks and it is unbeatable for the price at just over £100. It is easily patched, key updates are straightforward - and you dont need to get a cam to go with it. If you wish you can go for a variety of cards for ART or whatever but these are totally optional.
And there is a lot of support on the forums - have a look around and try and get the "flavour" - it is a very good receiver and has a lot going for it!

I married Miss Right. I just didn’t realise her first name was always.

Cheers fellas....

As it turned out - a replacement capacitor in the Power Supply board was all that was needed. Saving me £98 - and meaning the wife can watch LOST on TSR2 tonight!!

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

Well that's a result.

I would add though regarding all of the recommendations, that whilst the Technomate is not a bad unit, it is no better nor worse than many other receivers on the market (probably using the same processor) and has reached its postition of favour initially by an incredibly active cross forum promotion, mainly by posters who have somewhat more than a passing interest in the unit sales.

As I say, it isn't a bad unit, but the sub £100 price tag is matched by many others with equal capabilities and some with more.
