ABS-CBN - Decoder required ? as no discount for no hardware subscription?

I was thinking of taking out a subscription to ABS-CBN (spent a long tinme living in Asia and my wife is Filipino)

However they want to install , and supply equipment. No discount for subscribing only.

I have spare receivers, LNB's and dishes.

So I want to know if I can use a 3rd party or other decoder to watch this channel? has it been cracked.

I was willing to subscribe but am now pissed off. So willing to try the unofficial route.

Any advice on decoders appreciated.

My System: Technomate 1500CI+ 85cm motorised dish Freeview

Exactly the same situation for me. There appears to be a monopoly on sales through the UK, with DaTu enterprises. I wonder if subscribing to TFC Middle East package (god knows how) could produce simply a card as opposed to a complete system.

Even Singapore & HK are operating these channels on cable now and my wife is feeling left out .

Better not tell my wife

We lived in SIngapore for 8 years. Returned late 2003.
No Filipino channel then.

If my wife found out there is now she would want to move back!

Will try to put pressure on distributor.

Is the encryption of the middle East channel the same ? or would you need a motorised dish and point at a different bird.

£17.50 per month??? if paid upfront

From http://www.datuenterprises.com/help.htm#faq5

It is true that TFC cost £500 every year?
Not True. Many people are still under the impression that TFC costs £500 every year. Once you have paid for the installation and decoder box you pay only £27 per month or £210 for the whole year!

This works out £17.50 per month.

It's been a year now since they move to Irdeto2 from Nagra1 and still no hack.

Shopping around - Card prices imported from EU

I have done a google in German and greek (dont speak either but can follow links) thinking that other EU countries must sell the cards. Price seems to average around $300 Euro's and the packages seem as controlled as UK. Seems to be the same forms and the same outfit behind the sale of cards/hardware/equpiment. Does this consitute a monopoly under EU law?

Smile

too late,

she's booked a holiday back home. Thats about GBP1500 (sorry, I've got a Sim Lim keyboard) for her + the nipper. Should have gone with DaTu. I suspect that they may fall foul of EU laws, but then again they are acting as agents for a non-EU organisation (ABS-CBN), so who knows.....

if I had married a Thai, she would have got FTA. Oh well................
