Sat Finder?

hi all

whats the best sat finder to buy??

i seem to have narrowed it down to 3 i think?!
one that plugs in and beeps?
one that has led bars?
and one with a compass that you point in the right direction and(upgraded) also beeps?

bit confused where to put my money
i brought my kit for caravanning so it needs to help me setup on site mostly!!!

cheers

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

I have found that the ones with the LED bars perform better generally.

hi,i've got the digisat pro, paid £36 or £38 for it,best thing i've used, only has the one lnb input rather than the slightly dearer one with 2 lnb inputs, but i just press a button to read signal strength from additional lnbs or a monoblock

My System: echostar 880ci fixed system at hotbird

the budget satbeeper one done it for me, when i installed my motorised system years ago i used one of those and after tweaking the elevation and angle of the dish, few minor adjustments later with the beeper sorted it out with me, just make sure u read up on it first. i was a complete novice and i managed to do it after a couple of hrs (better than paying someone over 100 quid to do it believe me)

It's right slightly looking from the back of the dish. The same elevation should get a signal then just adjust slightly to see if it improves.

Remember a digital signal takes a second or two to lock.

My System: Pace 2200 Sky digibox with ftv card, Comag SL65 FTA sat receiver, 40cm Sky minidish, Setpal terrestrial receiver (for free uk tv only!).

I also recommend the digisat pro, a good compromise! Shows signal level in dBu (across sat if, not single transponders), and you can see/insert 22KHz, diseqc signals, etc.

Just got a Lidl one, very basic, although will "find" a satellite (and cheaper than Maplin £30!).

Regardless of dish size, a "sat finder" will still register the strongest satellites - with a "changed note" - even if your dish is too small to let you receive any of the channels (ie, Hotbird has a huge quantity of channels, with a large total broadcast power, even if any individual channel has too small a power).

From Astra2, Astra1 is about 9 compass degrees to the right, and also up "a little bit", and is also a stronger total signal! Hotbird is then about 3 degrees further right still, and a weaker total signal.
