RG6 confusion..

Hi, im new here and very glad to have found this place...thank god for google.

I am trying to get hold of the rg6 cable as used by telewest and ntl, i have come to discover and correct me if i am wrong, the rg6 they use is from america and is far more superior than our uk rg6.

The problem i have is i am using thomas and betts snap and seal rg6 f type plugs and have a tool that will compress those and rg59 connectors to, the uk rg6 i looked at was pathetic and would not take the plugs the collars were very looose, having spoke to many satelite suppliers i was sent a piece of webro wf100 which looked ok but i noticed that the braid and shielding was copper and there was less braid than the rg6 i have from telewest, i was told that this would take the rg6 connectors i have but i found that they are very tight to get on and 9 times out of 10 they ruffle the copper braid making them immposible to push the foam dialectric all the way through the barrel of the plug...i am sure of one thing, i want to use the thomas and betts snap and seals but i want to know which is the best cable to use with these as i cannot get any of this telewest cable that works so well with the sns connectors. The cable is going to be used for short runs but i dont mind using higher grade cable if it will fit the connectors better, it is also only going to be used inside so is it worth me looking at rg59 connectors ?...any advice you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

I use WF100 with Thomas & Betts snap-n-seal connectors, you simply need to peel off the copper foil before you push on the connector, if you leave the foil on, then as you say, it makes life very difficult. I have made something in the region of 60 connections today alone, so be assured that they are fine with WF100.

WF100 is certainly as good and possibly performs better then the NTL cable, the difference is that theirs is designed for direct burial and has a sticky sealing compound between the layers.

PS. Copper braid and core is better than steel or aluminium.

Thanks for that informative reply, every thing i needed to know...i wasnt sure about removing the copper shielding and i am glad to hear it is better quality..it is certainly stiffer...i wonder what the safest curve is i could subject the cable to, tlelewest engineers i believe are told not to bend theirs more than the circumferance of a soft drinks can if you get what i mean...i found that thread interesting reading that someone posted about different types of cable...ill have another look, i think it mentioned something about bumps.

Thanks again.

PS...where is the cheapest place i can buy this webro wf100 ?

I have had a play with this short piece of cable i was given, which is getting shorter...even when i have peeled the foil off the foam goes in fine but it does not protude out the other end, my cable stripper is set the same as it was for the telewest cable and the plugs go on beautifully with that...does this cable need preparing differently ?? the plugs have stamped on them *LPC*SNS6 and have blue collars so i assume they are thomas and betts...it seems the inner barrel of the plug is having great difficulty going into the sheath of the cable. I assume the inner ring is supposed to go between the foam and the braid.
