Smile Help me out please

Hi everybody

First time ive been here but im hoping that someone might be able to shine some light on my little problem for me.

Ive just purchaes the skyline DSR4000 satellite receiver kit
ive setted it up and all seemed well ,signal strenght 63% and quality 76% which according to the manually is pretty good .
It receives loads and loads of channels ,obviously a lot of scrabled ones which dont play but i expected that .but when i select a channel it plays for about 10 seconds or so the the receiver seems to reset and it closes the channel for a few seconds then comes back on
All the bbc and itv and radio channels play ok but lots of others just have this problem .Im pretty new to sats but if the signal and picture quality is good to start with why do i loose the picture after 10 secound
Many thanks

You need to establish whether there is a fault with you dish setup or a fault with your receiver. One easy way to check this is to try another receiver or try somebody elses dish. Could the wind be blowing the dish out of alignment when it blows hard, and then springing back when its calm, or is it exactly 10 seconds each time?

Oh and yes, it is possible that some channels work and others don't, as there are a number of transponders which are operating on different frequencies, and either horizontal or vertical polarisation. This means that the signal level at your receiver is not necessarily the same for every transponder.

I'm sorry, I don't know about previews as I have only scanned in FTA. If all the FTAs work, but the subscription ones are intermiittent then this probably rules out a dish problem.

I am not certain but it would appear that you have either an Antsat sony-sat or skyline DSR 4000 receiver and as you say it is FTA. On 28.2 there are 3 types of transmissions (excluding HD) there are FTA free to air FTV free to view with an appropriate freeview card and there are subscription channels with an appropriate subscription. Are you able to identify the channels and list the ones that are displaying for 10 seconds?
