My System: 3.1m Famaval on 28.2, 1.5m offset on 19.2e, 13e & 7e all mixed in a spaghetti of wires and going into a dream thingy.
irdeto & irdeto2 Difference

Hi

Sorry if this a silly question, but my main area of expertise is Sky so this is new to me.

I have a manhattan plaza st120 receiver with an embedded irdeto cam. I maybe doing a Nile Showtime instal soon which I believe requires irdeto2 CAM. The question is will this receiver be ok with a Showtime card?

Cheers

Nick

My System: Pace Sky HD, DM7000s, CubeRevo 3000HDPVR, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Televes H45 Digital Spectrum analyser.

If that's a fairly recent model then it should be OK, can't remember when they changed the spec, but it was quite a while ago.

I think it's a recent model - probably less 18 months old. I assume there is very little difference between the two Irdeto standards then?

Not sure what the differences are Nick, the Irdeto 2 cards were far more sophisticated, so i guess that the CAM had to address new layers on the card, the nice thing is, that Irdeto embedded receivers are relatively cheap as are Irdeto CAMs.
