My System: Sky + looking for best patced receiver and motorised setup.
Talking Motorised setup - is it rocket science?

Hi all

I have just purchased an Echolink EL 3020 IR Super receiver and an 85cm dish with a satcatcher diseqc 1.2 motor.
The intention is to have a go at installing it myself but i am a bit overawed by the thought of it all. Is it really that difficult.
I am thinking about fixing the dish directly to the pole without the motor to start with, find a satellite and alter the dish inclination till i get the strongest signal. After that i could take the dish down attach the motor, refit it and try finding the satellites using USALS.
Does this make sense or would it be a waste of time because i might have to alter the dish inclination again after attaching the motor.
Sorry if this thread doesn't make sense but i am a newbie to this game.
Any advice on installation would be greatly appreciated and i would be chuffed if i could crack it myself before having to find a pro to fit it for me.

My lat/long is

lat 57.68277
long -2.01719

any recommendations welcome.

Regards

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Read my sticky thread on setting up a Moteck motor, shouldn't be any different for the Satcatcher, as it's probably a Moteck clone.

Once you have followed the setup instructions, then after entering your coordinates in the USALs menu, drive the motor to 1W (the only time you drive the dish with the motor prior to finding the correct arc) and by moving the whole lot on the mast and the elevation of the dish (declination) only, find 1W.
