problem alinging dish arabsat

hi all be trying to align a 95 cm dish to arabsat 26 degrees.but did not have much luck it seems i can get a good vertical signal or a good horizontal but not both at once.there seem to be a 2 to 3 degree difference between the h and v polarizations.lyngsat recommend a 90 to 120 cm which this dish falls in to.the chap says his freinds use a 1 meter dish with no problems but im not so sure.this is the first time i have tried to find this satellite so i have nothing to cross reference with.so if there is a member with any experience of this sat please reply thanks in advance.the paticular channels that he said he had before it started to hang off the wall was mbc which has its own footprint.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

If your dish is as you say in your profile, it really isn't big enough, if you can move a couple of degrees, then you are not on the same satellite.

sorry mate did not get the last post.i have done quite a bit of research now and come to the conclusion if i can get the mbc foot print the others will be a easy.it is not clear what size dish is necessary as there are so many conflicting posts.ie i can use any dish from 90 cm to 130 cm and it will work or it wont.at the moment it will not work with a 95 cm on a still clear day.i also read a lot about 28 degrees washing the signal out if this is true a larger dish will not work as it will just pick up more of 28 degrees.

1m

Not true. Bigger dishes are harder to align for quality. You need a good meter to align at least a 1m Triaxon Aabsat ( name has changed) In Kent a 90cm works.

SKEW lnb perfectly, that is the key. A strong signal but REDUCE THE NOISE.

The bigger the dish, the narrower the dish focus, so it will be less affected by an adjacent satellite.

ok thanks rolfw i think i will try a triax 110 cm as your last post has cleared some of my concerns. i think the combined effect of more signal and a narrow focal point should work in all but rainy conditions. many thanks.

yes i think a 110 cm should definately do it, it really is a awkward one to get, i myself use a 88cm from the north east, my dish is in the garden and i take a tv monitor and put it right next to it that definately helps.
