Sat Finder meter signal

Has anyone noticed if their sat finder/meter ( the simple strength signal ones ), register different signal levels depending on what channel the receiver is tuned to ?

I thought these simple tools know nothing of frequencies, transponders
etc and just measured available signal across the frequencies.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

The signal to the meter may vary if you change band or polarity at the receiver as this will affect what the LNB is receiving, changing to a channel in the same band/polarity will make no difference.

Thanks rolfw, that explains why I was getting a different reading everytime I switched between C4 and BBC2. Although I think I was also getting a different reading between BBC1 and BBC2 (101,102 both H right?), but I must check again.

The BBC1 London and BBC2 England are on the same H transponder, but the regional ones vary.

Yes you are right of course . No difference between BBC1 (101) and BBC2 (102).

So is there any way to tune to these particular freqs (10,700-10,900) using just a simple sat finder ? In another thread I wondered whether the LNB oscillation lo and high could be used to somehow restrict the available freqs ... or perhaps some sort of inline filter between the lnb and the meter ? I know such filters are available for UHF and VHF ...

Don't think so, can you not hire a meter from a local installer or wholesaler?
