Invacom C120 twin

Anyone else notice a signal level difference between the 2 outputs ? Output 1 is noticeably ( on a sat meter ) stronger than output 4. Could it be a sign of "wear and tear" for the lnb or is this normal ?

I presume you mean output 2.

There should be no difference in overall gain levels (mine are more or less equal).

Both output use the same signal path from the probes onwards, the only separation is within the output mux circuit, which is unlikely to vary.

I suggest you check the output terminal socket(s) for possible corrosion.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. My lovely little lappy, HP Omnibook 6100

I've seen postings (from snap I think) where he has noted that the inner pair of outputs are ever so slightly different from the outer pair (think I've got that right!). Don't remember which make of LNB it was though.

Why it should be so I can't imagine.

Well I do mean the 2nd output, but it is numbered 4. Looking at the back the metal cast has four positions (1-4) but only 1 and 4 actually have an output.

So I guess there realy should not be any difference between the outputs. I thinks I must check the lnb and maybe try a different one too.

for what it's worth, I tried an MTI AP8-TW (11€!!) in place of the invacom twin. I used the invacom feed although it doesn't fit perfectly (!) to the lnb. The holes don't EXACTLY line up and the screws can only partially be tightened. The end result is NOT the best fit. HOWEVER, I am now getting better results with the MTI and signal strength has improved to 70% and signal quality unchanged at 95%. No other tuning or tweaking.
I must now look for an MTI feedhorn.

this is the MTI AP8-TW mti ap8-tw.JPG
