For a while iv'e been wanting to get 43w just to test something, but had no success. Can you get 43w with a 1m dish in the UK? I can get 30w but nothing else west from that.

My System: Channel Master 1.2m and 1.8m, Vantage VT-X221TS CI and 8000s, Technomate V-Box II, 18" Superjack actuator

You should try 12651 H, SR 30.8 as this is on the European beam which is strong in Western Europe. If you are having no luck then it is highly likely that an obstruction is preventing you from receiving anything.

My System: Smart lnb, 1m Gibby dish, Stab motor, TM5200D receiver, 57east to 61west. DTT from Sudbury. Virgin Media broadband.

No trouble here with 43west and a 1m dish. Just a load of god slots though, 45west has a couple of chinese channels. I go as far as 61west , only a data channel. Nothin past that beaming towards the UK.
As pointed out, you might not have clear view of the arc or your pointing is not quite correct.
