I think that even 1.5m is not enough.
Few members still have problems with 2.4m, especially with the horizontal channels, but they are not in London, if memory serves me right.
There is a thread about receiving Nilesat in the UK or maybe Europe.
Search for it, There are lots of info there.

Echostar and nilesat

Many thanks to all who replied. Much appreciated. What I meant is how to tune in the echostar in order to receive nilesat which seems to have disappeared.I used to have it together with 12 other satellites I had programmed.

I know a few people on here who receive it (horizontal transponders) in london on a 1.2m and there is also a few member on here who receive it in london on a 1.2m dish

I am in wales and i can receive it on a 1.2m andrews but the signal drops out in the rain on the 1.2

My System: Channel Master 1.2m and 1.8m, Vantage VT-X221TS CI and 8000s, Technomate V-Box II, 18" Superjack actuator

I got a 1.2m channel master with matched feedhorn recently and I'm getting a low signal on 11919 H during the day and one other hortizontal here in North London. At night these improve and some other horizontals appear. I get all the verticals and most of them remain strong enough to watch in the rain.

My dad has an echostar and I wouldn't recommend it for nilesat as I have compared it with the vantage and there is more picture breakup on the echostar.
