My System: Kyostar KNS 2000 Monobloc kit Astra & Hotbird
Set-top Box Setup

Hi
Does anyone have a Kyostar KNS2000 Installation guide in English, as the they only supply it in French. It is a mono-bloc kit, and on installation I can only pick-up the Astra Sat' but no signal/quality indications on Hotbird?
I get signal 89% Quality 65% at best, with absolutly hardly any movement of the dish? And I can only receive UK tv on the Astra Sat' and zero chanels with only 40% sig 0% Qual on the Hotbird Sat' and I have rotated the LNB's without any luck.
Previously I have set-up my Sky Box & Dish with no problems, and it is completly stand alone set-up.
The MonoKit above is a seperate set-up, and I thought it would be easy! I have tried to contact k-star, but no one speaks English, and my French is not yet upto stratch, so if anyone can help, I'd be more than happy, fanx.

My System: 80cm offset dish with telestar teledigi 2s receiver linked to TV

If you want the normal UK TV channels (BBC, ITV ..) then you need Astra2d on 28.2E HotBird 6,7A,8 will get a limited selection of english language 13.0E Have a look at LyngSat for an overview of satellites, positions, what free-to-air (FTA) channels there are and satellite footprints. Derek

My System: Technomate TM6800D & TM1000D+ receivers, Stab H-H90 motorised Triax 1m dish 42E to 30W. Fixed Orbital 1m on 26E, 2 x minidishes.DigitAlB movies. A Bigsat BS-S77CX and a Sky Dodgibox.

The monoblock will pick up two satellites that are approx 6 degrees apart, like Astra(19.2E) and Hotbird(13E) for example.

It will not pick up 28E and 13E, as they are not 6 degrees apart.

It sounds to me that your dish is pointed at Astra(28E),hence getting UK channels using one part of the monoblock, but since the other part isn't pointed at Hotbird, it won't get it.

Is is Astra (19.2E) andHotbird(13E) you wanted?

Or was it Astra (28E) and Hotbird(13E)?

Both are possible, but you can't use a monoblock for the 2nd option, you need TWO separate LNBs.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

If you are receiving UK channels then you are on Astra 28.2 and the monobloc LNB will be way off from Hotbird, you need to point at Astra 19.2 and Hotbird for a 6 degree monobloc to work.

To find out which side of the LNB is port A, get someone to put their hand over each side in turn and watch for signal loss. If it is the Western most side of the LNB, then align it on Astra 19.2, if it is the Eastern most part, then align on Hotbird.

Once that's done, go into your satellite set up menu and set the non-focused satellite to port B and the channels should come up.

Hi Derek - many thanks for your reply.
I thought I had picked up Astra 19.2'E & Hotbird at 13'E But it appears I have picked up Astra 2.82'E so it will have to be a dish relignment, and that will have to wait, with having ones leg in plaster!
Again fanx for info -Tony

Hi Robbo,

It appears you could be right, I will be re-aligning the dish as soon as my leg is out of plaster (bit of a problem trying to walk over roofs). Also I was originally trying to point the dish as per instruction manual (in french) at Hotbird 13'E - azmth 166 elev 38.7 & Astra 19.2'E azmth 158 elev 37.2 #The set-top box has been programmed with all the available stations for both H/Bird & Astra, and I was mistified as to why it was only picking up UK T.V. I though it was because I selected English, on the installation set-up.
But I'm sure you are right, and I will re-align. Again fanx for your info -Tony
