My System: Technomate TM-1500CI+. Sky Digibox. TriAx 80cm Dish driven by a Moteck SG1200. Inverto 0.2db Silver Tech lnb.
Which LNB?

I have done a search for this in the forums but i can't find anything so here goes.

Which LNB is considered the best for Ku reception? I have read lots about MTI and Invacom LNB's but what do you think?

It would be for an 90cm motorised dish attached to a Technomate TM1500Ci. I would assume a 0.2db is the way to go. but what make?

I currently use a cheap Maximum SF10 0.3 and i am wondering if i could pull in some weaker signals with another more expensive LNB?

Thanks in advance for your input.

My System: Sky+, DB 7000s, Gemini 4.3 in flash, Var on USB stick. Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Unaohm EP313, Swires Annie 204 Spectrum, Rover ST-4 Spectrum.

Any one of a few will give you great results, I use Inverto Silvertech LNBs at the moment, they are inexpensive, compact, perform well and have a pull down connector cover. Some people swear by the Smart Titanium, which is also a good LNB.

My System: triax td88 motorised, Vantage x221tsci, tms-1500ci, skystar 2, diablo v2.3, zone 2 minidish - setanta

smart titanium i use on my triax 90cm and it does perform well. also sharp 0.3 lnb is very good too.

but really you need to try a few out on the dish and see which is the best match for the dish you have.

i did this and tried about 4 or 5 before i settled on the best one.

My System: 1.2 m Eurostar dish KU band W3A, 3.7M C band on the arc from Atlantic bird3 to Measat 3, 1.5 m offset on PAS 10 KU. 3.4m prodelin prime fibreglass on PAS 10 C

I would to add a little insight in this discussion. Some swear only by invacom or MTI. I purchase both to replace my cheap EUROSTAR 0.5dB but the cheap one outperforms the two expensive one. I tested even a cheaper ENGEL 0.2 dB .This one outperforms all three mentionned earlier. The last one I tested is STARTRACK 0.3dB TWIN. This one is the best for my situation. Channels that were too weak to play started playing ok. One thing you have to bear in mind at what frequency is the LNB best. I am in fringe area ( outside footprint of PAS 10) dealing with upper band frquencies from 12520-12722 MHz. I think we cannot compare two LNBs lnbs on different frequencies. that's why some swear by some brand name. For me the STARTRACK are best. I don't know for you. I believe that many have tested LNB within satllite footprint coverage. We put it to test really outside footprint where there are sudden signal fades. we are easily influenced by ads and what we hear on forums. I have lost money on trying expensive LNBs ( it is expensive to me as I am far from Europe and have to pay postages sometimes greater than the price itself). If you can get hold of the cheaper one, have a try. Mine cost $10 for single/$20 for twins. The local oscillator stability at a particular frequency is very important. How to know it beforehand. We have to test it and not rely on manufacturer's data. I am very disapopinted with these big brand names.

Hi Patmos,

I managed to get a Inverto Silver Tech for £8.50 i think it was (without postage) so i will give it a go and see what happens. If it is better then the one i currently use then great if not well i am not concerned.

Its not that i cant receive something i want too, more a case of what could i receive with a better LNB. Just a bit of fun really.

Thanks for your input.

I originally had a Fortec star 0.3 dB LNB on my 90cm Fortec star dish, and I was struggling to get some of the transponders I wanted on 26E. When I put the inverto on it, it was just enough to be able to watch the channels I wanted.

Hopefully you will have some luck too.

My System: 150 Cm Focal Nokia Dish. Topfield TF-7700 HSCI. LNB: Invacom C120 single. Feedhorn: SMW-XM 140 Cables: Edison >120

I was wondering the same things as you. I have a motorized prime focus dish, so my search of the best combination of feedhorn and LNB is still not solved.
I heard that many buy the quads or twins insteed of the single because they perform better then the single.

If anyone have som good knowledge with C120 LNB.s for Prime focused dishes i'm most glad to hear some opinions of which one to choose.
