I have a 1m ground stand and its more than enough. It would allow you to see any visible satellite. Remember the az/el mount, polar mount or 1224 motor are attached to the centre of the dish so that leaves it 40cm clear of the ground when the dish is at 0 degrees elevation.

I would be more concerned at that price!

I had a quick look at this forum's sponsors and card mania have a 3" heavy duty ground mount for £61.99 with UK delivery but it says out of stock. I have a non penetrating roof mount which uses 4 patio slabs to weigh it down and means you don't need planning permission as it is not fixed to my property. I got this from Sat Europa for £126.50 with delivery.

If it really is to be installed on the ground, get some 3" steel post material, flatten the end and drive it about a metre into the ground.

Alternatively get some additional angle iron and borrow an arc welder.
