Help with polsat settup in south of UK

Hi

Im sorry if this is covered in the FAQ area of this site but i couldn't find anything that related to my problem.

I have recently bought a polsat receiver and dish+LNB from Poland.
I have been trying in vain to get a picture from the receiver although I have found a strong signal with a satellite finder, there isn't even a signal measured on the signal strength bar on the setup menu on the receiver.

The receiver is brand new and does work, as I tested it myself before i left Poland.

Although I admit I am a newbie at satellites, I do have a good understanding of electronics and my connections are neat and without any stray copper strands causing a short, so I am stuck as to why my setup isn't working.

Any help would be very great full.

Thank You QuArTz

Hi, Not being familiar at all with such a receiver, but indications are that you have not aligned the dish to Hotbird properly if at all.

If it is possible to monitor the signal quality on a polsat transponder you should be able to align the dish using that.

Set the dish elevation according to dishpointer.com using 13E and your location, and point the dish in the direction indicated by the yellow line. You can use this as a starting point and then sweep the dish around this position whilst monitoring the transponder until you get a signal.

Thank you for that url..

After looking at it for a couple of minutes it occurred to me that my dish is pointing ever so slightly to the left and hotbird is to the right so i changed the setting to hotbird in antenna set up in the receiver menu and moved the dish and ... Got it!!!!!

Thank You
