Morning, somehow, I've been waiting for this thread, lol.....

Take these easy steps and it will work.

> Get yourself a compass
> Point the dish to a rough 143°
> Set the dish elevation to a rough 24º although this may not be accurate on the bracket
> Stand in front the dish looking at it and turn the LNb a fraction so the F connector is at a 7'0Clock position.
> Use and in-line meter and move the dish in small movements until it peaks
> OR use the receiver to align the dish by signal screen ( use Tp 10.714h)
> If you find a signal on the meter, scan this Tp 10.714h, 22000, 5/6 (Channel 4)
> If you scan this transponder and get the above.... your on 28E.

Get your self a long extension lead, and take a portable TV out to the garden.

Go to > Installations > satellite set up > Select 28e / Astra 2> Go down and select Tp 10.714h on the receiver.

When you move the dish, you can see the signal / quality levels go up.

When the levels go up, press RED

Tighten up when happy.

He means rotational adjustment and or the angle the dish makes with vertical, your dish should look similar to this, almost vertical

Loosen the bolts, on the dish, just enough so that you can gently move it, side to side and up and down, then while able to view your portable television slightly move the dish until you get the strongest signal, then tighten up the bolts.

Loosen the bolt around the collar. at the end of the arm, that holds the LNB in place, then twist it and re-tighten the bolt.

I seem to have sorted out the 'Level' - its stable on 87% but the quality is only 23% and when i search its not picking any channels up.

What shall i do now ? Does this mean its not facing the right direction, etc..

Ignore the level, get the quality up and scan some channels in, then we will know if you're on the right satellite.

By gently moving the dish. Seeing as you're having all these problems I'd first check your cable connections are correct, even doing them again to make sure.
It just takes time, and patience, to gently nudge the dish to get a signal.
What transponder are you using to locate the signal ? Try 10788 V 22000 they are BBC 1 FTA channels.
Why are you trying to get Astra 2, 28.2E with your receiver? Your receiver is patchable and you would get far more viewing choice from Astra 1, 19.2E or Thor 1W, including live football, films and entertainment channels.

My System: 75e-75w C & KU, 36v diseqc Anlg to HD Channel Master C120 dishes, stbs, lnbs, motors, too much to list

That dish actually looks very good but please make it far more solid before it blows over and you buckle the dish. That slab is a bit too small and you need to weight it down a lot more and ideally make sure it's on more solid ground. To reduce stresses you could lower the dish a bit for now if you can still see the satellite you want. You could use the T bracket to support it higher up... off that fence if it's solid &/or bolt it all to a bigger slab.. 3x2 etc..
That Silvercrest dish is quite light weight but it's when the wind blows as sat man says.. it acts as a sail and the leverage down to that small slab base can be substantial.. We used a larger slab and a very large plastic plant pot loosely filled with rocks, filled up with water (and topped with plants for looks and trelis up the pole) with the bottom leg of the K under the dish and the plant pot covering it. It was solid and looked good.

With it switched off** Check the inside of all your f connectors for a tiny stray copper wire crossing to the middle. (always switch off before touching f connectors)

Right im getting 66% quality now.....did a search on 19.2E and it found about 21 channels (lol)

When i go on the list there is about 400 channels though so i don't even kow which ones work, although one did appear to work then i cant find it again...it was a music channel. It also found a channel called Galaxie Sport , if that helps.

How do i get the rest to work ?
