My System: Technomate 5000DAPCI One dish for Atalntic Bird 3 (for French) One dish for Hellas (for Greek)
2 dish system was working now it is not

I have a Technomate 5000DAPCI connected to 2 dishes via a simple DiSEqC switch. One dish points to Atlantic Bird 3 (A) and the other to Hellas (B). Everything was working fine but a few months ago suddenly the Hellas signal vanished completely. I assumed the LNB had died but didn't do anything about it until this week. I have just switched over the LNB to a new one (single to quad) - nothing special - typical Sky setup. This has made no difference at all. When I look in the receiver settings I see I am getting 80 for signal strength but only 10 for quality. I moved the dish and lnb about a bit (as much as the mountings would bend) and the strength varied between 70 and 80 but the quality remained stuck at 10. Before I mess around changing the DiSEqC switch - any ideas? (The signals from Atlantic Bird remain fine)

Welcome,

Bypass the switch and see.

You may still have an alignment / line of sight problem of course.

They have pulled the Greek channels!

Thanks for your help. Should have thought of that myself. Just popped down to Maplin for the necessary bits. Got the signal to discover the channels are now scrambled. An hour of Internet searching revealed the channels were pulled in May. Seems there is no FTA broadcasting in Greek language that can be picked up in the UK.

Greek language FTA

Yes - I did find that one. The 'pack' of channels under ERT are what I used to receive. I have just redone the searching on my receiver and these channels are found and come up as 'D' as opposed to 'SD'. As I browse through the channels all the 'D's come up as FTA except for this string of Greek channels which my receiver says are off or scrambled. I am getting about 80 on strength and 40'ish on Quality. Is the Quality high enough? Mind you I can answer my own question as the Quality is the same on the channels I can see.

If it's Rik & Ert, they work fine, I passed them earlier
