New install problems

I live in Austria near Salzburg and am trying to set up my dish for free to sat channels only.

I am using an 85cm Dish, Panasonic TU DSB20 and a Sat + single LNB. I have locked onto the satallite fine. Have 90% signal strength & 50% quality. LNB skew is set at 8 as per a number of sources. I am able to pick up some free music channels currently but not the bbc1,2, itv, C5 or C5 that one i was hoping for. I have tried manually tunning with no success. In most cases it comes back at me with a no signal screen when manually tunning, however it has found both sky news and itv NE. In these instances i have saved the channels but when i attempt to view them it says no signal. I have tried adjusting the LNB skew with no success.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the likely problem?

Welcome to satellites,

The BBC problem is most probably down to dish size. The BBC & ITV channels are transmitted on Astra 2d (uk spot beam). The downlink power falls off rapidly as you move away from the UK.

As for the no sat signal being received - are you sure you have correct alignment of the dish. Sky News sould be listed in the EPG without the need to manually scan.
