My System: TM6800HD, TM1000, TM600 Linux,TM5200, TM2200 motor, Triax TD110 dish + Fortec 85cm. Meter=Satlook Micro+G2 NIT

There are only 3 main types of scan: blind scan, transponder scan and single tranponder scan. The blind scan should be used sparingly as it will quickly fill up your memory. There is also the NIT scan, which I presume obtains transponder info from the satellite itself.

Should I delete channels that I can not get or do not want? rather than just working from a fav list

Whichever you prefer, I tend to not use favourites with a motorised dish as I don't want it wanging back and forth all the time. Deleting unobtainable or invalid channels does take a lot of time though, I tend to just put the ones I watch, at the top of each satellite's transponder list. I can never be bothered to delete the ones I don't want, but since I don't have blind scan, it doesn't cause a problem.
