Unhappy atlanticbird3 in Spain

Hi Another novice needing help!!!???
I have the same problem in Costa blanca.
i have a Axil ad600, the dish seems to be aligned ok ( i have a meter)
and the position from dishpointer.com
The problem maybe in setting the sattelite parameters on the decoder,
it does not seem to recognise a Universal LNB, and no 22Khz is available??
The system is fine on Hotbird and Astra so the gear is ok.

I assume Atlantic3 is digital not analogue??

my arms ache too!! and theres a wasps nest in the roof next to the dish
so the shortest time up there is great.

Anyone know of any other FTA french stations on 60cm dish in costa blanca

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Alan

After some looking round on google ,one site says:::

You cannot receive Dig French channels from 5w on a Digibox but a FTA TDT (Terr Dig Decoder)
will receive the channels...
Any thoughts

Copied from DIGDISHSAT.Co.uk

French Channels
A digibox cannot receive the French digital programmes from Canal Satellite and TPS . . .the encryption software is completely different. However, some FTA receivers have Viaccess software on board and these receivers can receive BBC television free to air and the French TPS system with the appropriate TPS viewing card.
Also, there are combined digital and analogue FTA receivers which will receive the BBC and the French national channels which are still free to air in analogue.
Since early March, French national channels France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5 and Arté have started transmitting FTA in digital from the Atlantic Bird satellite. FTA receivers can receive these transmissions but digiboxes can not.

Hello

Welcome to the forum albbu

I have moved your post from the 3 year archive you tagged it on to, please start a new question with a new thread.

AB 3 carries both digital French channels and analogue SECAM French channels as per
_http://www.lyngsat.com/ab3.html

I assume you do not have a motorised system, therefore you will need to alter the skew angle from a few degrees after the hour (when viewed from the front of the dish) to a few degrees before the hour as AB 3 is a Westerly bird, this could be your problem

Regarding your other posts by digibox they are referring to a sky box I suspect, which you are not using

My System: 1.8m PF Dish, most sky and freesat recivers, 80cm on Illusion motor and Dreambox DM7025, TDT

the free french channels are split amongst various satellites and also between analogue AND digital.
flysat.com/tv-fr.php
for exmple
TF1 and M6 are only available for free on analogue on 5 west.
on digital you need the relevant TNTsat viewing card and dish at astra 19

but some channels are available for free on astra hotbirds and ab..

remember the skew of the LNB will be different for those satellites on East and West.
depending where exactly you are in spain you may find a 60cm will just about do...but in rain (yes we get that very badly here in spain during Oct / Nov!) and cloud you will loose signal.
but there is talk of putting TNTSAT onto AB also....

Hi Guys
im down from the roof in not so sunny C Blanca and still no joy wth
Atlanticbird3.
Tried alignment several times and am sure im pointed at the right sat.
188 Mag 45 degs elev. position from _ww.dishfinder.com
LNB rotated a few deg cw from 12 oclock looking from behind the dish.
Signal levels about 65 and qual about 49/55
Set parameters on AD600 for 22Khz on and univ lnb with none C/Ku control, and 0/12v NONE is this correct...???

Go to search and it takes about 5mins to scan but then comes up with no channels found.
Checked gear again on Astra ans Hotbird and gets these fine, only FTA.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, have french renters all summer and a bit of tv would be great!!!

Is there anyway of finding what sat the dish is on, in case its Nilesat
or some such??

Regards to all
alan

In that case if you are on the correct bird you should get some channels. Have you changed the frequency and other setting to a channel as per the lyngsat link I posted?

If it functions correctly on Hotbird then I see no reason for it not working on AB3. Apart from the above, perhaps try some setting for other satellites near AB3.

Just a point why not post a picture from the side of your dish. If it is a 60cm I would assume it is an offset, in which case your dish elevation will be 45 less the angle of the offset see picture.

Cool

Hi Guys
Thanks for the posts and suggestions.
Spent half a day yesterday trying to get some joy on AB3.

I get 13E and Hotbird no problem and track across without changing
elevation ( yes its an offset dish) to the next sat, which should be AB3

Set the Axil AD600 box with LNB Supply 12v on and 22Khz On
and commence search but no stations found, i have tried the skew
approx 5degs each side in case of finger trouble and checked settings from _www.dishfinder.com.

Also tried to station list from Eutel and Nilesat which i think are the other close ones.
This AD600 box does not seem to have the facility to set a transponder
frequency once you select a sat, so i have left it pointed at Hotbird
and will try again perhaps with another Sat box.

But at least the sun is shining now!!!

Thanks for all your suggestions.
Regards
Alan

Not sure what you mean by this, there are 8 eastern satellite slots and two western satellite slots between 13 East and 7 West

When searching, are you setting the stb to an active frequency and SR + fEC on that AB3 bird
e.g. 11591 V 20000-2/3
