My System: Cyfrowy Polsat Echostar DSB-717 60cm Dish
Cyfrowy Polsat Setup In UK

Hi.

My wife recently returned from Poland with with a Polsat Family and Sport package. She got the Echostar DSB-717 Decoder with the package along with the card, and the LNB (Inverto White Tech Universal Single LNB - HDTV DVB-S2 compliant) She didnt get a satellite dish as the sales clerk said we could use any dish. So I bought a 60cm dish.

While still in Poland they used the box with her parents existing setup (just swopped decoders) as you get 1 month free entertainment channels when signing up, and it worked fine.

I inquired with a local installer to set it up for me, but after being quoted £100 to tune it in decided I'd do it myself. I have the dish up the same as all the other dishes on our building. I seem to be getting some sort of signal, but not enough to find any channels. I have now spent hours trying to find the signal. I'm apparently looking for the Hotbird 13e Satellite. There seem to be 2 signal bars on the setup screen. On the top bar i can get 80%-88%, but never seem to get anything on the bottom one. There is a light by the 'TP' setting (with values like 12188/V, 12207/H) which is apparently supposed to turn green? I have tried them all but the light stays red. My manual is in Polish, and myself and my wife have tried just about everything we can think of. I'm at a loss as to what to try next. I'm starting to wonder if i have a rubbish sat dish?

Would REALLY appriciate some advice from someone with any experience of setting up polish sat in the UK.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

My System: Dreambox 7020si, Technomate TM600, Technomate TM9100 Fracarro Penta 85 Dish, Televes 0.6dB Quad lnb, TM SG2200 motor. 60cm Channel Master BSB dish on 28e, Mti Blueline 0.2db Twin Lnb. Rover ST-4 Meter Cyfra+ Subscription

Try 11158 V, 12188 V & 12284 H. These are the native transponders that Polsat use

If your pointing the dish at roughly the same direction as all the others its likely that you are looking at Astra 2 @ 28.2e not Hotbird @13e.

If this is the case from behind the dish you need to turn the dish slowly to the right and also slightly tilt the dish upwards as Hotbird will be higher in the sky than Astra2 @ 28.2e

The fact you are getting some sort of reading makes me think that your dish is just on the wrong satellite

Not sure if your receiver has the capability to scan other satellite but if it does try scanning 28.2e then 19.2e and let us know what happens

My System: Cyfrowy Polsat Echostar DSB-717 60cm Dish

Thanks Nano!

Ok so tried what you said. I changed the satellite to Astra 2, and played with the dish abit. While doing that I saw the bottom signal line come up abit, so scanned for channels and got quite a few. So changed back to Hotbird and moved it like you said, and eventually got some signal on the bottom line (around 19%) So we've now got quite a few channels now, just not all the channels we should have. Most are working, but some of the channels still say no signal. Do I now just need to play with it more to try find a stronger signal? The weather is pretty crap here at the moment, so could it be down to that?

Anyway thanks alot for the advice, I'm pretty popular at the moment for having at least got it part working!

My System: Zone1, DSI8215 SkyHD, Thomson DSI4214, TF5000CI, Dreambox DM800 HD PVR - Nab BH0.12, TM-5200D, Gibertini 104cm, SNH-031, 36v Actuator, Vbox-II, 42°E to 30°W, Sling Media, Televes H45 Digital Processing Analyser, Satlook Micro+G2 NIT, Rover SDM 1s

Try adjusting the LNb skew (rotation of LNb in it's holder) and small micro movements to the dish to maximise signal.
