My System: 60cm dish Technomate 1500
Atlantic Bird 3 alignment

I'm trying to align to the above. I was on Hotbird 13E and I can pick up Thor @ 1W , but I don't seem to get AB3.

I'm using a signal meter which appears to climb as I swing further west from Thor, but the technomate rxr reports no signal/quality gain on any of the satellites.

The LNB skew setting on the satellite is 1 to 5. I think it was on 3 for Hotbird, but I don't know what it should be on for AB3.

Am I doing something wrong or is AB3 slightly more elevated than the other 2, and hence why I'm missing it?

My System: Triax 1.1m and Orbital 80cm Motorised Dishes. Various fixed Dishes. Eclectic selection of Digital and Analogue Receivers. Complex switching and distribution that SWMBO cannot fathom. Nor me.

AB3 is about the same elevation as 1W and is a massive signal. Skew is not too critical, but should be more or less zero (ie LNB upright).

However, the numbers you quote suggest you are using a Sky LNB and you can't get zero Skew with those as they are designed for easy adjustment around the required Skew figure for 28E.

No matter - I use a Sky Minidish/LNB for AB3 (Well, SWMBO does, to be strictly honest!) and it should be fine with it adjusted as near upright as it will go.

BTW, if you are using a toy Sky Dish, I'm surprised you are apparently getting 1W .........

My System: Zone1, DSI8215 SkyHD, Thomson DSI4214, TF5000CI, Dreambox DM800 HD PVR - Nab BH0.12, TM-5200D, Gibertini 104cm, SNH-031, 36v Actuator, Vbox-II, 42°E to 30°W, Sling Media, Televes H45 Digital Processing Analyser, Satlook Micro+G2 NIT, Rover SDM 1s

If you are using that type of LNb, it's possible to cut away some of the plastic to allow a further adjustment to the skew.

Cheers for rapid response. Kit is Technomate 1500 CI rxr, plus a 60cm dish with what looks like a Raven BJ21 LNB.

It worked fine with Hotbird, plus I get a very good signal/Qual off Thor, both pushing 75%. However, with my 6yr old daughter and a walkie talkie watching the TV and signal and me up the ladder, she reports no change to AB3 as I swing round through what must be 20 degs.

All I can think is that maybe the elevation is tanked, as I don't seem to be able to pick up anything West apart from Thor.

(Maybe I should swap with my daughter and she'd have more luck up the ladder!)

Mmm

If the pivot point is not 100% vertical in all planes you will get signals not being received from certain sats in line with the pictures below

edit oh dear looks like that file is corrupted, I'll try to find another copy

There you go should be able to see that

My System: 60cm dish Technomate 1500

T minus 1 day til the garlics arrive and I still am having grief.

I think the prob is the receiver. When I pick up Thor 1W, I swing the dish and "see" the satellites on the signal meter but when I look on the TV the receiver isn't showing them with any increase in sig/qual.

There are some settings for DISeqc1 and 0 or similar. Do I need to alter any of those or the freq?

It's all very frustrating as I seem to "see" numerous sats on the meter but only my orig Hotbird 13E and Thor 1W on the wretched Technomate.
